That 40 mm Bofors uses a four round clip? Then why was the guy in the picture loading a six?

Might have been a different Mk. in the film than when she was in.

Or, as isn't unusual in videos, it's a clip for something other than what is mentioned.

Probably an image from a free state that doesn’t regulate magazine size.

She didn’t mention those itty bitty GE Mini-guns that can blanket the ground with 20mm or 30mm rounds in short order!!

Funny thing about the C-130:  I've taken off in one a few times, but I've never landed in one!

Sucks when you step out to take a leak at angels 20 and get left behind.

Field Artillery 105 rounds are not crimped so you could adjust the charge (powder bags) for range.   AC-130 105 rounds were crimped because the rounds  are loaded at a downward angle. Also, AC-130 gunners were the only Air Force personnel that could receive the Field Artillery’s Patron Saint Order of Saint Barbara.

I was in Tucson last weekend, and took a wrong turn - which turned out to be fortuitous; it took me right past the "Boneyard."  And from my rough estimate, there were over two hundred C-130's neatly parked there.  Don't know how many - if any - were gunships, but it was an amazing sight!  Row after row after row....

Yep 4 round clips.  The feed magazine on the Bofors holds 7 or 8 rounds.

In the video below, at the 1:20 mark, you can see them loading the 4 round 40mm clips into the ready storage magazine on the AC. Starting at the 7:25 mark you can watch them load and fire it.

Huh!  Can't believe I just now remembered this...

While he was growing up, my son had a "hero" - Ken N.  Kid's mom's best friend's husband.  And when asked, he'd told the Kid that he'd "served in the Air Force."  When further pressed, he told the Kid that yes, he had been in Viet Nam.  No details; just that he'd flown some large airplanes around.

Sadly, Ken passed back in '16.  The Kid was surprised when I pointed out this line from the obituary"Ken served his country in combat as an Air Force pilot and gunship commander during the Viet Nam war and afterwards in other duties in the Reserves..."

Ironically, when he was little, I'd bought a kinda cool toy for the Kid.  And I also just remembered and found it atop a cabinet in the guest room.  Don't recall who made the thing, and can't find a maker's mark on it anywhere ~ but it's still cool.
