Do you have people listed by name or do you have them listed so you can tell who they are?

I have a lady lives down the street. She is listed as Rachel corner of clay. I had a swarm of bees move into my attic. If I had just put the name of the guy that removed them in my contact list, I wouldn't have any idea who it is. So he is listed as bee guy.

yup - i got folks listed as that type - not friends or relatives they are folks that fix things here and such , i do that because they have to be in my contacts for my phone to ring , otherwise they have to leave a message , so i have my heating guy and my plumbing guy and my tree guy in there , just as i did back when i was working - i had people to call to get things done , in retirement i dont have need for as many as i did back then ,

My contact list has.... 14 people in it. Three of them are my mechanic, his son, who works at his shop, and the shop itself. Two guys from where I used to work, (who I haven't talked to in 2 years), three family members, and several friends. The other dozen or so are service types, (Electric company, Cable co. ,etc), and a few phone service types that came on the phone.

When I had a Work phone, I had customers listed by Company and name. Truck and other services by Company name.

I have both.  Name in the name fields and a more descriptive nickname in the business or alias field. This way I can address them by their name when I call and not just Plumber, Pest control ect.

Used to be that the names my Contact List were almost all CAS shooters and therefore aliases. Still a few in there but now mostly close friends and family. I don't put service type provider's numbers in my contact list.

I treat the business name field as a general descriptor in many cases. First name field for some is"[his name] & [her name}" for couples with the last name as many share a phone or I can reach either through the other.

Even a business in the company field may be something like "[actual company name] AC guy."

There are two reasons I maintain a contact list. First of course is to be able to contact them again, but second is to actually answer a call from any of them. Not in my contact list, likely going to voice mail. Most do not leave one. So not calling back.

I know all my contacts by name. I have them listed as such. B)

In my businesses I deal with a lot of people so I often times have to tag something on their name so I know who they are or what they do, Joe drywall guy.  When I had my charter fishing business I also put an $ next to their name if they were a good client and tipped well.  If they were a crappy client or didn't tip they got an *, those phone calls didn't get answered.

I will put peoples names along with why, but all in the same line. That way they are prominent at first glance.
