1866 Uberti lever safety?

I have an older 1866 Uberti with a lever safety. I guess that's what ya call it. I would like to smooth the cycling up a bit. I have to think about squeezing the lever now. What are my options on spring kits?

From Longhunter's website:  Pioneer Coiled Safety Spring for M1873

in the product code is says Model 1866 and 1873

Call Longhunter to make sure it will fit the older style 66s.

I had one just like you, Uberti, Navy Arms, 16” trapper.

 

 I shaved the spring down and it promptly broke. I used it as is with the broken spring. The safety hangs down. and works as it should in the firing position. I couldn’t believe how smooth the trigger was with no spring.

guess i never looked close enough at either of mine to consider making an adjustment like this , now i will , thanks for the education ,

Believe it or not .

I have used Ball Point Pen Springs for all kinds of things Firearms related. 

They work great for 92 ejector spring replacement also .

Now that you mention it, that reminds me that over 20 years ago the flat spring broke on my first '73 carbine, a piece of it fell out of the action while I was cleaning it.  So now the safety works by gravity, and has for all that time.  That means that if I tried to shoot the rifle real fast upside down, an OOB would be possible.
