No room to pay for it after the DEI budget? A complete lack of humanity? Glad those who want to do the right thing are now in charge.

yes , i think so too , but just so this doesnt get too political , i was thinking mostly of these poor people that got "Gilligan'D" out there for this long , i would have thought every effort might have been made

If it does, I have no objection to removal of my post. I do not wish to detract from focus on those up there and bringing them safely home.

Whatever the reason for the extended stay, those folks will be harmed and forever physically limited unless they are extraordinarily fortunate.

They’re going to have to go through a couple of months of rehab to get their muscles and bones adjusted to gravity.

No DEI stuff here!  No, the commander and pilot sit in the center seats, with Butch and Suni on the two outboard seats. It is easier to get the two center people out first, then Suni and then Butch.

And #$%&^*!, they were never "stranded", anymore than military personnel who wind up getting their overseas tours extended. For that matter, had it become necessary to bring the two and the other two who flew up on the substitute Dragon for the Boeing Starliner, they could have done so on that spacecraft. But, if they had brought them back before the rest of Crew 9, it would have meant four astronauts/cosmonauts too few to conduct the science and maintenance tasks scheduled. Suni and Butch are both Naval aviators/test pilots/astronauts, and understood the reasons.

Best wishes to them for a good reconditioning to  Earth's 1g. :FlagAm:

Space flight and exploration is very expensive, but I have never considered it a waste of money.   I am grateful for all the fearless people who have climbed into a rocket for the sake of science.  Money well spent.
