SPF Beautiful Leonard Day Plains Style Rifle

SPF Here is a chance to own a real piece of muzzleloading history. It is a .50 Plains Style Rifle built by the late, great Leonard Day. I was initially dubious about it being a Leonard Day rifle, as all others I have seen were stamped L.DAY. A conversation with Day's son Jonathan cleared this up. In 1981-82 Day entered into an agreement to build 100 of these rifles for a J.J. OWENS CO. The business regulationship soured and only 30 were built. This is No. 1! The rifle appears to be unfired. Few handling marks. Just scattered pin prick age spots. Its browned 28" barrel has 1:66ish twist and a pristine bore, with some spots around it about 8" in. Has an adjustable Hawken style rear and blade front sights. The Tiger Maple stock is mounted with German Silver fittings with acorn and Native American motifs. The DEAN MITTON lock stamped MASLIN WARRANTED. LOP is 13.75. The barrels are engraved with Day's and Owen's names, as well as No. 1 on tang and Ware Ma and 1 of 100 in front of rear sight. Rifle weighs about 7.5 lbs.These almost never come up for sale. $1000 + Shipping.
