Alpo Posted March 6 Posted March 6 If you bought from them recently, do you have to sign for the delivery? I bought my first order in the late 1990s. And I have bought on and off since then through maybe 2012. Never had to sign. I placed an order a couple/3 months ago, and when you UPS said it was coming they said I was going to have to sign for it. But they left it without even knocking on the door. I placed an order a couple of days ago and I received an email yesterday, and UPS says I'm going to have to sign for it. Is starline requiring signature now? And the guy last time didn't want to mess with it so he just scribbled something and said that he got a signature? It is supposed to arrive tomorrow in the middle of the day in a 4-Hour window. That means I can't go somewhere if I have to be here to sign. I can't even be working in the backyard if I have to be here to sign. I got to wait by the front door from 11:45 to 3:45 for the UPS guy. Sucks. Unless all UPS notices now default to saying that you need a signature, even when you don't?? Quote
Choctaw Jack Posted March 6 Posted March 6 The last time I had A "signature required" delivery, I didn't know anything about it until I got the delivery notice, with picture, on my phone. 1 Quote
DukeSoprano Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I just received a $280 order mid December and didn't have to sign 1 Quote

Rye Miles #13621 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I ordered 1000 .38 brass a couple months ago from Starline no signature needed. 1 Quote
Tell Sackett SASS 18436 Posted March 7 Posted March 7 All my primer deliveries require a signature. No driver has gotten one yet! Quote
watab kid Posted March 7 Posted March 7 might have to do with porch pirates in your zip code , if i were the shipper id not want to replace orders over and over in an area known for thefts - but i would want my clients happy 1 Quote
Sedalia Dave Posted March 7 Posted March 7 The woke ninnies at fedex and ups require an adult signature for all firearms related shipments. Apparently brass is firearms related. Quote
KatfishKid Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I've ordered a few thousand directly from Starline with 3 deliveries and haven't had to sign for anything. Last thing I had to sign for was a powder order from Midway. But a week later I got a primer order from Midway and didn't have to sign for it. Quote
Cholla Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I talk with the UPS/FedEx driver and exchange phone numbers. If I have a delivery that requires signature and I know I won't be home, I call and tell him to sign for me. The FedEx manager also sent me his number in case I need to have a shipment held, such as a firearm. I then swing by the hub and pick it up when I can. 1 Quote
Stump Water Posted March 7 Posted March 7 About 20 years ago, out of nowhere, every thing UPS brought was signature required. Went to the UPS DC/terminal and talked to someone in the office. Our address had somehow been flagged as "signature required - all packages". "Who did that?" "I don't know." "Un-flag it." "Done". 3 Quote
Chantry Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Blame Covid. These days even with Signature Required a lot of delivery people will just leave it at the door and might not even ring the door bell. I even had an antique SxS left at the door despite the signature being required. 1 Quote
Rip Snorter Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I was supposed to get deliveries yesterday from FedEx - Weather delay without any bad weather at all. I think a lot of standards got lowered by and through the fake plague. Quote
Matthew Duncan Posted March 7 Posted March 7 As I recall UPS left a sticky note on my front door notifying me a sindture was required and they will attempt delivery again the next day. Also on the sticky note was a place for me to sign stating I accept delivery. I signed and placed the sticky note back on my front door. Worked like a charm, UPS dropped of my package the next day without me being home. Quote
Alpo Posted March 7 Author Posted March 7 (edited) I just checked my email. Got one from UPS saying my package had been delivered. The email was timestamped 12:45. It said the package was delivered at 12:38. At 12:35 I had just finished bringing in the groceries and shut the front door. If I was a little bit slower or he was a little bit faster we would have caught each other. But I didn't have to findSIGN nothing. Edited March 7 by Alpo Quote
Pat Riot Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I have the FedEx and UPS apps on my phone. With UPS if a signature is required I can go into the app and click “Deliver without signature”. With FedEx I do not have that option on the App. A couple of years ago I had to play a little game of cat and mouse with the FedEx driver. I wouldn’t be home, he would attempt delivery. He would leave the “We were here” sticker on my door and the note said “We will attempt delivery between 1::00 & 3:00 tomorrow. At 3:00 no delivery. I had somewhere I needed to be. I left. I got home at 5:00. FedEx note on my door. “we were here” will make another attempt tomorrow. I was a bit ticked, but decided not to get too upset. The next day I was going to be home all day. I put a Post-It note on the door that said “FedEx - Knock hard. I am home in the back room”. I was reloading. Around 4:00 there had been no knock. I went outside expecting another note and on the porch sits my box. He never knocked. He just left it. Now there are no UPS or FedEx service centers in my town or area. They don’t bother with a signature, they just leave the box. On another note Natchez will only ship with a signature required. I asked them not to do this as it is problematic. I had a heck of a time getting a delivery of bullets once. They say that is the only way they’ll ship. Well, now that UPS just leaves the package, signature required or not it is now a moot point.
