Having just completed my first upper build from scratch and shot it today, I can say I like the recoil more with a mid-length barrel compared to carbine length. Mid-length refers to where the gas bock is as compared to carbine (gas block closer to barrel) or rifle length (gas block at end of barrel). All in a 16" barrel which I would think of as a carbine.

 

Looks like a fine sporting upper.  Very similar to what I just built. I refuse to add up what I spent on mine. Free bump.

Thanks! This is also their Cold hammer forged barrel. Some YouTube videos have this model BCM with thousands of rounds fired no cleaning or lube. Zero malfunction. Quality gear.
