WTC: Re-engaging SG when all SG targets are down

Recommended Posts

Order of stage is rifle not last. Shooter (me) tries to outsmart himself and starts with SG on left firing position then goes to right firing position, knowing he can draw crossdraw pistol on the way. Shooter engages both pistols and picks up rifle (now last) and realizes immediately that he has engaged rifle last. Can shooter finish rifle and then go back to SG and engage one round to make rifle not last? SG targets are all down. I don't remember this being addressed previously.

2023 "WtC?" (ROC ruling):

Stage instructions give a shooting order of "Rifle Not Last."
Shooter shoots pistols, then shotgun, then rifle. Realizing they shot the rifle last, they pick up their shotgun and shoot one shot safely into the berm.

********************************************************************************************************************
It is commonly understood (or SHOULD BE) that a "+" regarding a firearm round count (e.g., 4+ Shotgun) applies to the following:

- All shotgun knockdown targets may be reengaged until down.
SHB p.13 - STAGE CONVENTIONS
Shotgun targets may be re-engaged until down, unless otherwise specified by the stage description.
SHB p.15 - Safety & Handling Conventions – Shotguns

Once the shotgun targets are all down, that "shooting string" has ended.

Firing additional shotgun rounds after engaging the next type of firearm would be a PROCEDURAL for:

If a firearm is shot out of sequence or from the wrong position or location, the shooter will be assessed a single procedural penalty.
SHB p.16

Procedural errors are simple, unintentional mistakes made as a result of “brain fade” or confusion, where the competitor engages the stage in a way other than how it was intended.
...
Procedural (P) infractions include:
...
Engaging the stage in the wrong order.
SHB p.21 - 10-SECOND PENALTIES

Shooting string – shots from one type of firearm prior to use of the next type of firearm engaged.
SHB p.44

Since the action was done on purpose in an attempt to negate the PROCEDURAL for firing the rifle last, add 30 seconds for:

Willfully shooting a stage other than the way it was intended in order to gain a competitive advantage (Spirit of the Game).
SHB p.23

MISS FLOW CHART
SHB p.40

Bottom line:
Accept the "
P" for firing the rifle last instead of wasting time loading and firing the shotgun...and ending up with a "P" + 30-second SOG:ph34r:
