High Cotton Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Use 6 targets, 6 rounds, and a single tap sweep for simplicity. Shooter shoots the first three targets, on the fourth target, the shooter misses the target. The shooter then shoots the fourth and the fifth target. The only target not hit is the 6th. Someone is arguing that a miss can not cause a procedural. SHB p22. The shooter shot the sweep, and the only penalty would be the miss on the sixth target, not a procedural. My understanding is the shooter engaged the 4th target 2 times. One miss and one hit. This is a miss and a procedure. There are 2 references to engaging targets in the handbook that seem relevant here. SHB p22 Spotters/Counters – have the responsibility to count shots and misses and to verify targets were engaged in the correct order for the required number of shots. Three spotters are required – majority (2/3) breaks any ties in regard to misses SHB p44 Engaged – attempting to fire a round at the target Please verify this rule for me and a fellow shooter. Thanks High Cotton
PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L Posted March 2 Posted March 2 (edited) You are correct. In that scenario each fired shot has an assigned target. As soon as the shooter failed to hit the 4th target with a fired round he had the 5-second MISS for "Each missed target." Engaging it a second time is a PROCEDURAL for "Shooting targets in the wrong order." SHB p.22 The MISS dd not "cause the "P"...engaging it twice did. Engaged – attempting to fire a round at the target. SHB p.44 Edited March 2 by PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L edit txt 9 10
