watab kid Posted February 28 Posted February 28 sad but he was 95 that was a long life , i feel worse for his wife at 64 thats not a long life , im not going to speculate - the news folks will do more than enough of that , but this is a bit strange based on what has been released , i guess we shall see ---so many of these holiwood deaths never get fully explained , sal mineo , marilyn manroe , natilie wood , im not suggesting this will become one of these but geeze why cant they get explained ? just askin ,

Trailrider #896 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 The pills scattered around where Mrs. Hackman was found were standard prescription plus some Tylanol. Nothing that would have been deadly. I will still bet on carbon monoxide poisoning, which, at this point will take some time to detect the effects. Considering the general climate down there, they probably don't use their furnaces that often, and may not have had them checked for CO production. In spite of my furnace only being a few years old, I have it checked annually. I have CO detectors as part of my fire detectors, but have to check on their age because they don't last forever.

Tylenol kills more people than all other non-illegal drugs combined in a given year.

Yes, many of which accidental because 1) many other medications contain Tylenol and people don't always realized that and 2) the toxic dose is only ~2x the therapeutic dose. It's sad, but true.
Texas Joker Posted February 28 Posted February 28 If acetaminophen was discovered today there is no way it would be allowed OTC.

Eyesa Horg Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Musta been fun feeding an OD of Tylenol to the dog. Will be interesting to see what really happened. My votes still in CO so far!
Blackwater 53393 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Preliminary toxicology reports say no Carbon Monoxide!!

Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Too much acetaminophen is bad for the liver, so they tell me.

In particular if used with excess alcohol consumption is my understanding. I don't see the correlation between acetaminophen poisoning and the concurrent deaths of TWO people.

I don't see the correlation between acetaminophen poisoning and the concurrent deaths of TWO people. ALL acetaminophen is bad for your liver, with or without other things that are also bad for your liver (alcohol). It's literally the #1 cause of acute liver failure. I don't think anyone is saying that it is related to the death of 95 year old Hackman, but that's why an investigation is underway.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted March 1 Author Posted March 1 Acetaminophen is safe to use for arthritis even daily according to this and my doctor. I take 1000 mgs almost daily not every day though. Over 4000 mgs day is not good on a daily basis. https://www.health.harvard.edu/pain/acetaminophen-safety-be-cautious-but-not-afraid
