KatfishKid Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Received my very first set of Cowboy action shooting pistols today. Jimmy Spurrs did a great job. Absolutely love them! Not a fan of the grips, but that's easily remedied. 11 Quote
Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L Posted February 21 Posted February 21 sure are pretty. Keep us posted on how they do in their first match. be sure to check the ejector housing screws now and then--mine get loose every so often cr 2 Quote
Snakebite Dust SASS 75484 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 He does great work. Love how he sets the triggers back for less travel 1 Quote
Whitey James Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I had to replace my Bisley grips also. Not due to looks but they were too slippery. Quote

I like the looks. They are very slippery. I ordered some checkered wood grips for them if I like those I'll use em until I buy some Eagle grips. They're just a little pricey for me right now. I need to chill on the spending for awhile now. 3 Quote

Finally put a dot of Blue Loctite on it and no issues any more. I do still check every time I take em out of the safe for a match. Quote
Shawnee Hills Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Excellent choice! Jimmy’s revolvers are incredibly smooth and will serve you well for a long time. Might as well go ahead and order a pair for your bride because it’s gonna happen sooner or later anyway. 😁 Quote
watab kid Posted February 22 Posted February 22 very nice , and congrats on that great brace of revolvers , as you say grip scales are easily changed , those actually look rather nice as that type go , im not a big fan but my pair of 38 revolvers have similar i just decided to live with them , Quote
Turkey Flats Jack Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I use regular vaquero triggers on all my bisleys to achieve the same thing. I didn't even know the stock trigger could be adjusted that way. As for the grips nothing better than eagle gunfighter grips with the reactiv checkering. Pricey but we'll worth the money if you can spare it. 1 Quote
Anvil Al #59168 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Nice. Been shooting the same pair of Ruger Bisleys for around 17-18 years now. No telling how many rounds have been through those things. I much prefer Eagle Gunfighter Checkered grips on mine. 1 Quote
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Beautiful Lady's. 😍 They should be great for a gunfighter with them Beasley handles and hammers ! 1 Quote
evil dogooder Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Stock grips are the first thing I swap on any of my guns. My hands just don't fit them well. My preference runs to stag or elk. Strip the varnish off of them when they come and they will not slip with rain or snow. 1 Quote
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I still have my first set of guns from back in the day . I have always shot Single Action pistols and lever action rifles . And even double barrel shotguns . So when Deuce Steven's induced me to cowboy action shooting. I already had everything I needed except a gun cart . Two Ruger Blackhawk 44's Marlin 44. And Steven's 12g sxs . It didn't take me long to upgrade. But I still have my original guns . Rooster 1 Quote
watab kid Posted February 24 Posted February 24 i still have and use my first purchase revolver as well , its a slicked up taures that in the right hands would be a fast gun but im old and slow so it is not seeing its optimum use anymore - im working on my son to start shooting SASS , mught be in fast hands one day down the road , i think we all start somewhere and arrive at what we like to shoot eventually , it appears the beginnings for you are better than mine - but i had fun learning along my journey so i have no regrets , i just spent a lot of money getting to where i am , most of it i got back , but you never recoup what was spent in total along the way , i would not change a thing if i had it to do over tho , its been a fun learning experience , i dont regret any money lost as i willingly invested and willingly divested as i went down the trail , i like what i have now , 1 Quote
Whitey James Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I put some Magna-Tusk grips with checkering. They feel 1000% better. 2 Quote
Sheriff Dill Posted February 26 Posted February 26 We bought a pair of NMV through Jimmy Spurs with the full race package. They are great guns and very pleased with his work. 2 Quote
