Just about any gun board out there, some newbie will ask this question. Usually about every other year some new newbie will ask the question.

 

How many guns do you have?

 

And then they will tell you that they have four - a 22, a single shot 20 gauge, great-grandpa's deer rifle, and a hi point.

 

And people tell them. Not just "I've got 14", but will list the 14 they have.

 

Now I'm not too terribly paranoid. I don't really think that if I tell you all what I've got the government's going to write that down and then they'll come after me one day. It's just that - it's nobody's business.

 

It's like asking how much money I've got in the bank. I'm not worried that somebody is going to steal it. It's just nobody's business.

 

So yesterday evening I saw a new thread on another board. HOW MUCH AMMUNITION DO YOU KEEP ON HAND?

 

I read maybe the first three responses and then have not been back to it. But I glanced at it just a bit ago. Three pages of responses. 60 people have answered that question. And truthfully, once again the answer is "nun-ya".

ive noticed this as well , not sure if they are bragging or foolish but this seems to get way to much response in my mind every time i see it , i agree with you on that response but ive never responded to these questions , i cant imagine ever discussing my ammo supply except in very vague way if i felt comfortable ,

I didn't say I had any, I said I didn't have as many/ much as I would like to.

I've been saying for years that people provide way too much information via social media.

 

Not only do they tell how many guns they have, they'll tell where they are kept, what they load them with, which one they carry and where they carry it, what kind of safe they own, etc, etc.

Ya know, @Alpo, sometimes you start a thread that doesn't leave me wondering about your thought processes, and this is one of them. I believe you hit the nail on the head with both questions and insight. I rarely talk specifics about what firearms I might or might not own, or ammunition either, unless I have a specific need to know. Even then I try to find the answer without posting a question. On occasion I might let my guard down, but I try hard not to. Because, like you said, "it's just nobody's business."

I was asked that question at my PCP a couple of years ago, while I was standing there with my pistol on my hip!

 

I told the lady, “No, I’ve never owned a gun of any kind!”

 

She just grinned and marked (no)!
