Ever see that video clip of 60 minutes? Morgan Freeman, and Mike Wallace is asking him his opinion of Black History month. He said that he thought it was stupid. This surprised Wallace. So Freeman tells him, "you're Jewish, right?" When Wallace said that he was, Freeman asked him, "do you think you need to have a Jewish History month?"

 

When Wallace said that that seemed like a really dumb idea, Freeman said that it was the same thing with black history.

 

 

Every once in awhile there seems to be a celebrity that doesn't care that they're black. Or maybe a better way of putting it is they don't push it.

 

I was reading some click bait one time, and the question was why could Raven Simone not get hired in Hollywood anymore.

 

One reason was that she would not say that Bill Cosby tried to molest her when she was on The Cosby show. She said it didn't happen so why should she say it did.

 

Another reason was that she did not get up and wave the striped flag and go on and on about gay pride. She said that who she lives with and loves is nobody's business but hers.

 

And the third reason is that she would not say that she was African-American. She said she's never been to Africa. She's American. So what if her skin is a little darker than yours or if her hair is a different texture than yours. She's american, she's not African.

 

If those three reasons are true - and they could have been made up for the click bait - then she has much respect coming from me.

I think we should just have a “History Month”. This is where history, real history, is taught and promoted. Novel idea…teaching history.

This guidance is effectively immediately.

Back in the early 80s I was "Galley Master at Arms" at a shore station in Hawaii. After one of the special meals for one of the many heritage months, I asked the Senior Chief in charge "When are we having white history month with steak and potatoes?" The look that I got was not pretty.
