I just recently  found this, and it was of interest to me.

homestate

I noticed All 50 States Available!

With an exclamation point no less, and thought, "Cool!  I can get one for my home state."

And the price is not unreasonable.

Then I read this...

(Not available in California or Massachusetts.)

Sigh...   The Mass edition IS orderable.   But it looks like no one will be getting one, least of all me.

By the way, here’s the link to the 50 state tribute .45’s

I noticed there was no wording about pricing, except for the presentation box. And you can order a California, Massachusetts, etc… model. You just can’t receive it.

For that amount of money I could put together one of these items:

1. a decent hunting rifle w/ scope

2. a nice cache of components for reloading

3. another Ruger RXM and another 9mm PCC with RDS’s and accessories.

4. another Ruger RXM, 2 red dot sights (one for each RXM) and 5000 rounds of factory 9mm.

I would probably go with #4

You might wish to reread.

Order

I wish to reserve the “Home State/Fifty States® Tribute .45 – One of 100“, a working pistol, at the price of $2,195*. Each pistol is numbered and registered within the limited edition of 100 per state, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Thirty-day return privilege.

Please charge my credit card a deposit of $195 per pistol. I will pay the balance prior to delivery at the rate of $120 per month, with no interest or carrying charge.

It's not that they won't ship the California or Massachusetts pistol to you. They just won't ship it to California or Massachusetts. I can buy one of each and they will be happy to send them to me.

Though I have no idea why I would want one of either, let alone one of each.

No thanks. Not interested. Don’t care. Not now nor would I ever order one. Not sure why I bothered posting to begin with. It’s a 1911, for crying out loud.

Stop fighting it Pat, and give in to your inner 1911. You know you want one. You just think you're supposed to have a plastic hammerless striker fired wunder nine. But Herr Glock will understand. And if he doesn't, so what? He's dead. B)

Actually I used to be a hard core 1911 guy. I still like them, I just don’t own one.

I own 3 1911's, 6 if you include the three that were my fathers.

The price for this is high, for a generic series 80 Colt, and wile this is clearly a Series 80, it's not a generic one.  It's all "fancied up" and that's what drives the price up.

Some people say that the extra cost that a commemorative goes for, be it a 1911 like this, or an SAA, is not worth it, and I get that.  But personally, I like commemorative Colts.   For one thing, at least with the SAA, they tend to not go way up in price like a generic Colt does for some reason, and are thus more affordable.   I mean, a 2nd Gen Colt in pristine condition can run thousands of dollars.   An unfired 2nd Gen commemorative, with a few exceptions, can still be had for $1500 or less.   A real bargain.   And yes, I will shoot them.

Now, as to these 1911's, yes, if I owned one, yes, I'd shoot it.   And as much as I loathe many things about my home state, Massachusetts IS home, and the idea of having some kind of a special pistol that celebrates the Commonwealth is appealing to me.   Especially since they are so non existently rare.   As far as I know, there's never been a Massachusetts SAA for example.

Oh well.
