PowderRiverCowboy Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Nothing , today someones city will wake up destroyed by "fans" that set such a great example for kids, cheering for a team that dont care if they woke up this morning. 2 1 Quote
Will Kane Posted February 10 Posted February 10 In my neck of the woods, Super Bowl means school districts take a vacation day today. 🤷♂️ Quote

So does auto racing, although it actually started a couple of weeks ago with the 24 hours of Daytona. I'm looking forward to the upcoming MLB and racing season. 1 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 The pole qualifying for the Daytona 500 is Wednesday, twin 150s on Thursday and the trucks and the Xfinity cars run this weekend too! The NHRA Gator Nationals are March 6-8 and The Sebring 12 hour race is March 15th!! 2 Quote
Pat Riot Posted February 10 Posted February 10 There’s a 50 yard .22 rimfire match this Saturday at my range. 2 Quote
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted February 10 Posted February 10 SUPER BOWL?? Really?? I was certain it was just Philadelphia running scrimmages against a poorly prepared High School Team. Chiefs showed up too late in the game to be meaningful. Quote

I've made no secret that I have no interest in watching sports. The rabid fandom of so many people about such things is one of the factors that drive me from it. My wife and I spent the day watching Youtube videos on the T.V. The only positive thing that I take from the game being over is that I don't have to hear about it for the next eleven months. irish ike, SASS #43615 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I won't watch anything that has some sort of ball and pro's. NASCAR and NHRA. While they're pro drivers they put their lives in the line whenever they stomp on the go pedal. Quote
Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life Posted February 10 Posted February 10 (edited) Super Bowl means .....to me an absolutely stupid meaningless half time exhibition of noise that has no relationship to music. Yesterday was a prime example. Edited February 10 by Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life 1 1 Quote

I would say SASS qualifies as a non traditional organized sport. It SHOULD be traditional, as shooting has been a sport in this country LONG before anyone started tossing around dead pigs skins, but in today's world... But hey, who doesn't like a good midget tossing event, amiright? 1 Quote
Dapper Dave Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Edit to add, one thing most people don't know is Super Bowl Sunday is treated like a holiday in Arizona state prison complexes, with early work stops for working inmates on open yards including early dinner take home sacks with hoagie subs, so all inmates can be back in front of their TVs to watch the game. Seriously. Quote

Alpo Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Turkey bowling. You set up 10 2L bottles of soda in a grocery store aisle, and slide a frozen turkey down the aisle trying to knock the bottles over. 1 1 Quote

They use cans of soup and a frozen turkey. Quote

Is a Butterball turkey best for this sport or does the store brand have an advantage? Quote
Rye Miles #13621 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 All the turkeys used in the bowling event go to the food centers for the poor. Quote

That's sort of like asking which is better for bowling - 17-lb ball or a 10-lb ball. Kind of depends on you and your size. In my experience a Butterball tends to be a larger bird than the grocery store brand. Now if these three gentlemen were participating, The two on the outside could probably handle a Butterball easily, while that runt in the middle would most likely do better with the smaller grocery store brand. 1 Quote

I used to take a 10lb alley ball and sling it as hard as I could to see how many pins I could break! I was a 285lb teenager with little body fat and could really blast those pins! My regular ball was a 15lb AMF, but I liked seeing pins really fly! Got banned from several alleys back then. 😜🤣 2 Quote
