ill admit , ive had to adjust my thinking a lot to accept this branch of service , i saw them represented at the inauguration ceremonies and thats the first time i really recognized that this was real , not that i doubted it could be real but that they are actually a recognized , uniformed , service .................when we sent the guys to the moon i thought it was a one off , never dreamed it would result in another branch of our military

Aside from the idiotic lyrics, it's the high voices.

 

When you think of a military theme song - off we go into the wild blue yonder, over hill over dale, from the Halls of Montezuma, sail Navy down the field and beat the Army beat the Army Gray - you hear it in your mind with deep voices singing. Deep masculine voices. Strong soldierly masculine voices. Basses. Baritones. But not altos.

Yeah, weird song.  And I'm not trying to belittle this branch of the service.  I guess it took a while to accept that the USAF was a logical step from the US Army, and so it will take a while to accept that this is a reasonable split off from the USAF.  Completely different role.

When they actually go into space or show me something worthy of recognition THEN I might take then seriously.  Until then I consider them to be a really tasteless bad joke.

 

And every branch of our services exceprtthe Marines badly need some new "songs" for their hymns.

 

And I'm still angry with whoever came up with the Army's cute little Kindergarten star on a black background with a little yellow trim.  I spent from 1957 to 1972 under the Army's colors, but NOT ONE PARTICLE OF A SECOND WAS I UNDER THAT EMBARRASSINGLY STUPID DRAWING WITH NO MEANING WHATSOEVER.

I had a Space Force tee shirt. Dark blue. Very nice looking with their logo on it. It wasn’t a comical shirt. It was a legit looking tee shirt. It was size extra large because at the time I weighed 265 pounds. 
One day I am at the shooting range. This guy walks up to me and says “Are you in the space force?”

I started to laugh then realized he looked serious. 
In as serious a face I could muster I said “Yes, because in space. No one can guess your weight.” Then I stood there staring at him with a smirk on my face.

He laughed and said “You’re messing with me right?”

I said “Yes” then turned and went back to shooting. 
 

Me?! In the Soace Force? With graying hair, a limp and over weight?! Duh!

I would transfer my commission tomorrow. But I don't think they want any 82-1/2 year old former Minuteman I maintenance officer these days. 

 

What I'd really like to see is USSF get rid of the cammies and get something more in keeping of their AOR.  Dark blue fatigues/utilities perhaps.
