Thanks Slow poke I have 2, 100's and 1, 200 all 3 have splinter forearms and I really can't tell the difference when shooting them. Randy 1 Quote
Leroy Luck Posted February 3 Posted February 3 All 3 of mine are 100s and can’t tell any difference between them. Other than one is super short. On another note, Deuce had one listed in the classifieds that was ready to go. Don’t know if it’s still available. 1 Quote

Just looked and Saturday someone posted they would take it. So you could always ask to be next it the deal falls through. 1 Quote
Beartrap SASS#57175 Posted February 3 Posted February 3 If you're ever going to shoot black powder make sure to get the beavertail forend. You'll burn the crap out of your fingers with the splinter forend when the barrels get hot. 1 Quote
Gateway Kid SASS# 70038 Life Posted February 3 Posted February 3 I currently have a few of the model 200 SKB’s. All have the beaver tail forearm. I use to have a couple model 100’s with the splinter forearm. The 100’s felt lighter and quicker but the timer said they were the same as the beaver tail 200’s. (for me). The 200’s felt less subjective recoil as back then I was shooting 15.5 gr of Clays with 1 1/8 of 7.5 shot. Sold one 100 and traded the other 100. Sometimes wish I had kept one as now I am using 14.5 gr Clays with 3/4 of 7.5 shot and don’t need the extra weight. YMMV Regards Gateway Kid 1 Quote
Silver Creek Jack Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Love my SKB 100, lightweight easy to handle, Points great, I only shoot LNLR or my reloads which match LNLR specs. Sometimes shoot APP loads which are pretty light loads runs great in it! 1 Quote
SGT. ELI 35882 GUNFIGHTER Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Forearm will be shooters choice, whichever you like. Watch for single lug vs double lug, and 200's have a split extractor which doesn't push the empties out as far as the 100's 1 piece extractor. The 200 extractor can be modified into 1 piece that will push empties out as far as the 100. 1 Quote
Badlands Bob #61228 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I have 3 of the 100's. Whenever I find one at a pawn shop or gun store for less than $1,000, I buy it. Getting hard to find but they do show up from time to time. 1 Quote
Tall John Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) I have two model 100’s. One has a beaver tail with an 20” bbl and the other a splinter tail forearm with a 22” bbl. I like the beaver tail better because I have big hands.; I can’t really tell the difference in the length. Doc Noper did his magic on both. i could probably be convinced to sell my splinter tail, but……. Edited February 6 by Tall John 2 Quote
Captain Bill Burt Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Four model 100s, all set up by Fast Eddie. 2 Quote
Muggins Posted February 6 Posted February 6 100 and a 90, both with splinter fore ends for these little hands. Both with the fast Eddie magic. Neither belongs in a show room, but they swing and shoot great. I have a Stoeger that was slicked up by another cowboy and it is heavy and occasionally doesn’t fire the second barrel, or the action opens after the first shot. The weight and balance, and reliability of a fast Eddie skb over a slicked up Stoeger is worth every penny. I’ve heard other cowboys do good work on SKBs also, but have no personal experience with them. Buy whichever one is available. If you want a double barrel Stoeger that shoots like a single shot, I know a guy. 1 1 Quote
Hoss Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I prefer the 200 with the beavertail. Just handles better for me. And coin finish because it’s purty! I’d strongly suggest getting the mechanical conversion. At some point you will be sorry you didn’t! I have one set up my Shotgun Boogie. Excellent in every respect. My other was done by unknown smith. The mechanical conversion works, but looks odd. Reciever is fine, stocks ok, barrels look like crap, but 100% functional. It’s my backup, wet weather, BP gun! 1 Quote
Abilene, SASS # 27489 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I've heard single lugs and double lugs, but are the single lugs to be avoided? Quote
Shawnee Hills Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Running a 150 and 200e with beavertails from Fast Eddie. The splinters allow my fingers to wrap far enough around the barrels that fingertips are all I see when trying to shoot. That gets rather annoying. 1 Quote

I wouldn't turn one down if the price was right but the double lug offers significantly more locking surface area, leading to better barrel to receiver alignment and reduced potential for movement during firing. Double lug are usually considered higher end guns. Edited February 8 by SGT. ELI 35882 GUNFIGHTER 3 1 Quote
