Texas Surrender - definition

When I started CAS back in '04 Texas Surrender was hands on pistols.  That was one hand on each pistol.  Since then it evolved (mostly) to hands on pistol(s), meaning you could have one hand on each or both hands on one.

 

Fairly recently, I've heard of start position being Texas Surrender, but starting with any gun which is taken to mean both hands touching gun of choice.

 

How is it defined/used in your area?

right now in our part of The Republic, you can have both hands on one gun if you choose

Hands on pistols but for crossdraw shooters you can have both hands on your crossdraw pistol at most around here.

Here, Texas Surrender is a hand on each pistol, if the wording Texas Surrender is not used it is written as hands on pistol/pistols

im not certain what is the "accepted" definition here , ive always gone with the stage directions whatever those might be , i remember these directions in the past but did not consider anything but what it said - if plural both ,

Around Ohio, I've seen TS as hands on pistols.  When I write stages, I also stipulate that the shooter may have both hands on their crossdraw if they like.

I don't use names for the starting position, only the sweeps and even then, I explain what the sweep is in the notes. I stipulate where the hands should be, i.e. "hand(s) on gun(s) of choice" or "holding rifle in both hands" or "one fist raised, other can be touching gun or ammo"; it was my "Trumped Again" stage starting position. 😁
