Optics for your Python or Anaconda?

I do have to agree with the WTH folks. If I saw someone pull a Python w/optics out of a case at the range, my first impression is not going to be good...but then, I've never figured out the revered 'mystique' about Pythons to begin with.

Actually, me either on both accounts. 

 

I just thought it was weird that Colt was pushing these mounts for their revolvers.

In the past year or so, virtually everyone who comes to the falling steel plate matches I go to, is running an optic of some for both the handgun and pistol caliber carbine.

I like it, and when shooting NRA bullseye I put a weaver mount rail adapter on my

King Cobra Target .22 and an optic.  I need some help finding the sight with these old eyes,

and a 1 MOA red dot really helps.

 

The mount and dot come off after match season, and I go back to shooting double action iron sighted,

but if it works and helps me shoot better then I'm perfectly ready to shoot with them.

 

It's ugly as a monkeys buttocks, but it works, so it ain't too ugly.

Oh Happy Days are here again.

I been waiting to buy a couple 'Conda's but didn't because I couldn't put a big ole red/green dot on em.

Now I can.

 

Break out the check book and buy meowndangself a new 'Grizzly'  and Holosun!  

 and everybody sings...... Oh Happy Day!

I am seriously contemplating a red dot sight on my Ruger RXM. I just can’t warm up to optics of any kind on a revolver…yet.

I once traded a Python straight up for an S&W model 19.  The Smith fit me better than the Colt.

Right now red dots are the rage . And honestly, especially now with my aging eyes they help . But on a rifle or handgun the certainly don’t add to the curb appeal

Try it I think you’ll like it , I prefer green over red , I can just pick it up easier. But your mileage may vary. It definitely helps with your presentation because if you’re not consistent you won’t find the dot . And with the co witness irons it’s hard to find a down side, except of course what we’re discussing here, the ugliness of it . But if it’s useful ugly can grow on you

I think of optis the same way I think of Glocks: They're great. I don't like them.
