I got an Alchimista from EMF that has CCH that I just hate and I would rather just blue the frame to match the barrel. Is this possible and if so, how would I go about doing it? Thanks!

Cold blue is NOT a great way to blue a complete frame on a pistol.   Very hard to get a uniform deep long-lasting blue.   A gunsmith can polish and hot-salt blue that revolver frame and probably the screws to match for about $150 or so.  If you don't care for Pietta CCH, you probably would not care for a home DIY cold blue either.

good luck, GJ

I agree with G.J. but if you wanted to get an idea, try cold-bluing where it won't show, like inside the cylinder window, and see what that looks like.

I've touched up the CCH finish on my Ruger with cold blue, just dab a bit on the shiny parts. It's OK for a cowboy gun. But, Ruger CCH is a finish, and some of the Italian clones are real CCH, big difference.

I can't get Pietta to reply to any of my requests for information and so far no one has been able to tell me what kind of cch is on my Alchimista. I can say however, that the so called cch has rubbed off around the strgger/hand and hammer screw holes and a few spots on the frame, with just wiping the gun off with new microfiber cloths.

Thank you for answering that for me. So it's not the cyanide coloring either, correct? Just some proprietary chemical bath and a pinch of smoke and mirrors?

Uberti used to heat the frames in hot salts, then quench.  So yes, it was "case-hardening" but very superficial.  Over the last ten years (?) the colors have gotten much darker where they used to be mostly gray with some color.  I don't know what they changed.  As for Pietta, their finish looks very similar and I expect they do something similar.  When people talk "real case hardening" or real case colors they are talking about the authentic method of baking the parts in bone-meal charcoal.  The visual effect is recognizable.  Some folks in the past have said their Piettas had real case-coloring, but for the most part they were mistaken.  The various importers have offered special finish guns with real CC at times, but they cost a good deal more.

There's definitely a huge difference in the garbage finish on my brand new Alchimista vs what I've seen on Turnbull and ParkWest websites. Their stuff looks like art...the pietta is dull, why did you even bother, trash.

Because I bought the Alchimista for the things that make the gun an Alchimista. None of which have the slightest thing to do with cch, blueing or the color of its screws.

i guess that makes sense , ill admit i was about to ask coffinmakers same question , if those features were so important you had to have revolvers you didnt like the looks of id go all the way and have them professionaly done so you will always be happy , just my 2 bits ,

Makes sense and I've been trying to get an answer from park west (jason) about the viability of rust blue over pietta color case but it's been months now and am not getting responses at all from them. Ultimately,  I think I'm just going to strip the whole thing down to white metal with bluing remover and try to rust blue it myself.
