Jack Spade Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Was practicing yesterday and found this on my range. I was shooting fast with both rifle and pistols so not sure which one did this. Appears one bullet struck another. I am assuming first bullet had struck the target and was falling when struck by the second bullet. Quote
X Mark Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I've seen that a lot with Civil War bullets smashing into each other . Quote
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Statistically much more likely for the splat to have been deflected down toward the ground with some speed, and as it traveled down, the splat turned over and struck a stand foot or upright, producing the second impact surface. Firing a pistol or rifle, one bullet splat will almost always be on the ground before you even get the hammer recocked. good luck, GJ 1 1 Quote
SHOOTIN FOX Posted January 30 Posted January 30 That appears to be one bullet. Look at the lube bands. Hit the target and then maybe a stand. Double impact on one bullet. Quote
Jack Spade Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 I am sure statistics and probabilities say this didn't happen like I think. But I like my story better ! 2 3 Quote
Abilene, SASS # 27489 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Dang, imagine that thing come flying back at you! Quote
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 If you can shoot fast enough, and if your first shot is a slow bullet and your 2nd bullet is a fast bullet, its possible the 2nd bullet ran into the 1st bullet shortly after they left the barrel. Probably impossible..... but it makes a good story! ..........Widder 1 1 Quote
