La Sombra Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I was wondering if there is a rule, written or unwritten, regarding costume reuse? Can I wear the same outfit in multiple contests (of course I can, but does it give me a unfair advantage)? Example: I wear my outfit to a major club annual shoot, place in my category and the following week wear the same outfit to a regional shoot and place in my category. Can I then participate in either Land Run or EOT in the same outfit? La Sombra Quote
Tyrel Cody Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Absolutely you can, not sure how that would be an advantage. I typically always wear a red shirt and brown trousers w/ white suspenders on Fridays at big matches. 1 Quote

Abilene, SASS # 27489 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 (edited) Are you asking about entering multiple costume (ugh - that word) contests with the same outfit? Or shooting? Because yes. I can think of a few shooters whom I've NEVER seen wearing anything else but a single outfit. If it's costume contest, don't you just keep entering until you win? Likely different judges at each one. Heck if I put as much effort into a banquet outfit as some people do, I'd want to wear it more than once! If you keep winning some other contestants might get jealous, sure. Maybe switch to something else for the next season, though. Edited January 29 by Abilene, SASS # 27489 Quote
La Sombra Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 @Tyrel Cody The perceived advantage is that since there are different judges at each costume contest, I would have already answered most of their questions at a previous contest. @Abilene, SASS # 27489 I am referencing outfit contests at banquets, not my match wear. And I am not Wild Bill McMasters with my personal seamstress. (Man has outstanding outfits.) And I do switch outfits for contests. La Sombra 1 Quote
Nellie Blue #54399 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 @La Sombra, my understanding from my earlier years was that once a costume has won at a higher level it could not compete at a lower level. For instance, you would win State, then Regionals, then Nationals, then EOT but you couldn’t win Nationals then compete with the same costume at a State or Regional match. I don’t know if that is written down anywhere but I would think that would just be a fairness issue. 1 Quote
Nellie Blue #54399 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 (edited) @La Sombra This is a copy of the only costume rules I could find but it doesn’t mention the reuse of costumes that I could see: 2016 SASS Costume rules Edited January 30 by Nellie Blue #54399 Quote
La Sombra Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 @Nellie Blue #54399, The old rules (2016) and the new rules (2024) don’t mention anything regarding this issue. Hence the question. My question stems from a conversation with Carlentini Kid on this topic. I was hoping that @Shotglass 17153 would chime in. La Sombra Quote

La Sombra Maybe it’s something that was missed when they wrote up the rules all 3 times. Maybe it can be addressed in future updates or clarified here. We’ll bring it to the attention of @Shotglass 17153 and @Misty Moonshine for them to consider. 1 1 Quote
