Just got out of the doc’s office!  No more stitches!!  Four weeks in and it’s still looking pretty good.

I’m due back in three weeks this time and I MAY be back in a boot at that time. I’m figuring that there will be some PT after that to correct my gait and relieve some of the foot drop.

I’m sitting at the high school now, waiting for the doors to open for the second night of the play my grandson is doing!  He’s the shop owner in “Little Shop Of Horrors”!  It’s hilarious!

He’s purty good!!

And now I have something NOT to grump about.  Daughter and her BF will be visiting in mid June!  Very excited to show them about and see them.

It has rained here, at least at some point during the day, for the last five days and it’s raining this morning!!

I gotta put my foot/cast in a plastic bag just to get from the house to the car to get to my PCP this morning for my quarterly checkup!!

I wish it would clear off for a few days.  I need to get the grandson over to weed eat and clean off the driveway!!  He’s going to do a small repair on the back deck if it ever dries up!!

Back to overcast and dreary!!  Just one pretty day in the last half dozen!!  Yesterday was clear and sunny with a nice 71F.

Taking Schoolmarm for her oncology checkup and it’s misting and raining! At least traffic wasn’t too bad and I get a great meal at my favorite Italian restaurant for my troubles!!

I broke.  When we moved here, there was a window A/C unit in the shed.  I just dragged it into the house and tested.  It works.  And it's flippin' heavy!  Friday it goes in the bedroom window.  Gonna be on the warm side Friday and Saturday.  Friday after work it will get put in place.

I've noticed that they seem to be way heavier these days!!

Got the results back from my tests on Monday! Everything is in the normal/good range and my A1c is down to 4.9!!  My meds for diabetes are working perfectly!!  If I had those numbers without the medication, I wouldn’t even be pre diabetic!

The bummer is that my mom has developed pneumonia and is hospitalized, roughly a hundred miles from here.

The prognosis is pretty good, but she’s 91 years old, so there’s plenty of reason for concern.

I’m in no shape to travel that far or to get in and out of the facility without help, so we’re talking back and forth on the phone.

My sister and brother will have to do the heavy lifting this time.

MORE GRUMP!!

&*%$ a riding mower is gonna cost a mint (gotta buy new, don't have cash on hand for used), and with all the work the house needs, I'd like to put it off.  Getting a quote for mowing/weed eating our yard.  Pending that, I may have someone else do it this season and next so I can deal with the home repairs.

Glad to hear your situation is still on the good side. 👏

They’re performing surgery this morning to draw off the fluid surrounding her lung.  Fluid is the result of the pneumonia.  At this point, the two have been combining to make it difficult for her to breathe properly.

Not all that risky except for the general anesthesia.

When she recovers, we’re going to move her in with my sister for a while to get her back to where she can deal with everything.

The best move in years was buying a Cub Cadet a couple of years ago - expensive, yes!  Worth every penny.  I have a large area to mow and was doing it with the small power mower and the tractor mower.  This is so much easier and faster.  Did the whole lawn near the house, no pain, no strain. Sorry I didn't spend the bucks sooner.

Schoolmarm bought a big zero turn mower with part of her retirement money, ten years ago. Bought a good one and we’ve only had to replace the battery a couple of times and sharpen the blades!  One tune up and filters every spring!

A damned good investment!

The hardware stores here carry Arians.  So that's what I'll get.  They are also the approved service center.  I have no doubt it will be really nice, but I didn't want to spend the money this year...

And the window unit I brought in the other way and fired up on the test, is dead.  Now I need to buy one of those.  But after what I spent on the mower, it's gonna have to wait a while.  Just gonna suffer tonight and tomorrow.

Every house we have owned has had a ceiling fan in the bedroom.  Stayed at a tropical place on our honeymoon, first experience sealed the deal. Our present house has 3.  Used properly, very effective.  We do have central geothermal A/C but the fans take the load off.  We only use it when the heat is brutal.  If your bedroom has a central ceiling light a very cheap purchase and DIY .

Mom’s surgery went well! She’s back in a regular room and has been up and walking.

Breathing much better and now has an appetite!

She ain’t out of the woods yet, but the trees are starting to thin out.

I'm not going to suffer, on the other hand, if I can keep the electric bill out of the stratosphere, I'll go to some trouble and use a few tricks.  Open the house in the morning. close it up as the temp rises, keep the air circulating with the fans.  If we have a hot spell, we do run it.  There is always the basement family room!

Mid 70's here, dropping to mid 60's tomorrow.

My wife grew up in Shaftsbury, just outside Bennington.
