GRUMPS UP FOR JABEZ

I’m gonna unGRUMP a little bit this morning!!

I got my laptop back to working while ago!  I’d ‘bout give up on it ‘cause I couldn’t get it to power up.  Figured I was going to lose a bunch of music that was stored on it, some of it original recordings that were not stored anywhere else!  I’ll get them onto a couple of thumb drives for backup.

I have it in the reloading room, charging and I replaced the batteries in my wireless mouse so it is working pretty well for now.

I’m starting to experiment with reloading some 12ga paper shells.  I was hoping to try some of them out this weekend, but it’s supposed to storm off and on all day Saturday and if it does, I won’t be able to get into my “test range” ‘til it dries out!

SO!! I only thought I wasn’t gonna GRUMP this morning!

The loading went  right well, I’m thinkin’!

I usually don't grump, BUT...

Our first shoot of the season was canceled last weekend because it had snowed off and on all week and the wind hit 45 MPH at times, but the day of the shoot was gorgeous. Temps in the mid 60's, no wind, shirts leave weather.

And here we were, not shooting.

Now next week for our 2nd shoot of the month, weather looks to be the same but clearing for the weekend, temps to be inthe mid 50's.

Fingers crossed!

Well Jabez, have you now have a shed, the you can use that the Shed Fairy dropped off or is it now firewood?

Shed? What shed? Oh that was yours was it?

Well, it just up and wandered off, same way it got here I guess!

Not sure where it is now!

The shed is Gone, the neighbor and friend came, drove two 4x4s onto my hay field chained it up a dragged  it through the fence. With-out so much as a Howdy...

I am trying not to get upset, but I feel this whole thing was handled in a rude manner, the fence is still not fixed...

What a GRUMP you are!

I like that in a man!

Shot our Spring match today, in really nice weather. Still a lot of water and ice on the range floor, but most of us shot with our coats off.

Had some feeding issues with my '73 rifle in .45 Colt, so it's getting a strip down and a LookSee tomorrow. Sure hope it's something simple. Looked like the rounds weren't feeding onto the carrier straight, but I was using some non-descript brass I keep for times I expect to lose cases, so maybe.........

I'll run some of my regular Starline and Winchester through it and see.

GRUMP!

Now I've talked myself into going back to the range tomorrow!

Oh the hardship!

The boy is digging his visit.  We went to the grocery and he discovered that they sell guns (including full auto rifles), can get ammo by the pallet, and stuff to make spaghetti.  "This is heaven" he said.

Next door neighbor came home the other night and saw a damned fox coming out of his chicken coop!  The bastard had killed every last chicken and he had just added some new ones a few weeks earlier!

Roger, the neighbor, often gave us a dozen or two of the eggs they produced and we tried to help keep the varmints out, but this time…

Says he’s not gonna try to keep the chickens anymore. He’s pretty upset ‘cause he’s been doing it for three or four years now and never lost more than a couple the whole time!!

Reckon we’ll hafta buy eggs more often now!

JUST WAIT ‘TIL I SEE THAT FOX AGAIN!!  I’LL DO MORE’N CHASE HIM OFF!!  GGGGRRRRRUMMMMP!!

My SIL has been in Long Term Care since 2007, following a major stroke.

Her Rogers Cablevision "box" is pixilating some channels she is supposed to get, so I tried calling for service.

What a nightmare! First in getting the right office, then the waiting followed by one of the most useless persons I have had the misfortune to deal with.

I finally gave up and went to the bank and cancelled the Pre-authorized account payments.

Maybe someone with more than two clues will call me, but:
TOO LATE! I changed her service provider.

It's amazing what customer service has become. If by some once in a blue moon chance, I get an intelligent representative; I immediately ask for their direct call back in case we get disconnected. I once had one give me her number before putting me on hold. She said the system automatically hangs up on held lines after a set time limit! Nowadays I'm pretty happy if they at least speak some semblance of English and I can basically understand them! Hate when they're 2-3 sentences ahead of what I've mentally translated!!

Just got back from the foot doc.  Not all bad news, but not all good either.

The sole of my foot has healed nicely and it doesn’t look like it will cause any more problems.

HOWFREAKIN’EVER!!  I’m not out of the woods yet. The paralysis and the removal of the toe and bones have combined to create an eminent problem. With the loss of lateral control of my ankle, my foot wants to roll over and it puts a lot of pressure on the remaining bone where the outside tendon attaches and it will likely cause another pressure sore if we don’t do something to correct the problem.

There are two immediate solutions, one that doesn’t require more surgery, but will likely prevent me driving a stick shift car/truck or riding my motorcycle. The other choice is surgery to fuse my ankle which will have me off my feet again for eight to twelve weeks.

The surgery will also put me back on the damned scooter for the duration of my recovery!! If it’s successful, I’ll be able to ride or drive anything I want or need to, I’ll be able to buy and wear regular shoes and boots, and I will be able to walk pretty much normally.

At this point, outside of just sitting down and saying “To hell with it all!”  I’m faced with decisions that I don’t have enough information to make and rapidly diminishing patience!!

Any of you had the ankle fusion or have any experience with someone who has??  If you have any experience or advice, PM me so’s we don’t have to put up with all that crap in this thread!

OH! YEAH!!  GRUMPALLTOHELLANDBACK!

yes he did get really great results , some of mine looked ata good but in the end i gave up on paper hulls , as much as i liked the look and feel of them as well as the nostalgia of my youth and the era ,

mine just didnt store well , granted i loaded them over ten years ago - any i still have are just practice rounds or fun for the kids rounds , or home defence

The exercise with the paper shells is just something to break up the boredom from sitting around on my posterior!!

I did another batch this morning from a different brand of shell and they weren’t quite as smooth.  I should probably decrease the shot load for the rest of this batch, as a few of them began to bulge at the crimp after sitting for an hour or so.  The others didn’t do that.

It won’t really matter since these are just an experimental exercise.  I’ll shoot them out of my Russian double to see how they shoot and throw ‘em away when I’m done.

The other batch is boxed up and on the shelf.  I’ll use ‘em in a match sometime just for kicks!  I ain’t gonna win any speed contest anytime soon!! I got lots of STSs and AAs for if I decide to get serious.

Still contemplating the ankle fusion.  Got an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon at the sports medicine facility that services the Titans and Predators the last day of this month.

We’ll just call it a GRUMBLE this time! 🤨

Reckon I can’t gripe too much today.  It’s been a fairly productive day, so far.

I got my little Deitemeyer 300 press put back together and working great! My primer catcher still needs to be fine tuned, but that little press makes some beautiful reloads, AAs or STSs, it doesn’t make any difference!  I ran a quick 25 rounds to see how it worked and I am happy! While I was fiddling with the press, I deprimed the rest of my STS hulls. I was experimenting with my primer catcher.

I hand loaded a box of fifty .45 Colt rounds for my Blackhawk or the Rossi 92.  I’m using cut down .454 Casull cases and a 250gr Hodgdon XTP.  These are really hot loads, made from a recipe that Widder worked up and tested.  They’re hand primed, I loaded powder for every one on the scale, and used the last two stages on my big Dillon to seat and crimp them.  Took a little while, but I know what’s in every round, down to the hundredth of a grain.

I did a bunch of tidying up on the reloading bench. I remounted my RCBS Uniflow so that I can operate it with the micrometer adjustment tool. It had been mounted in a position that I really didn’t like because it made the measuring process clumsy for me and it wouldn’t let the drum rotate the full cycle if I was metering a large powder charge. I got it like I want it now and I got the old bolt holes in the table patched, (I hate it when something drops into a hole or crack in my work surface!!) and sanded smooth.

I was gonna GRUMP because there wasn’t any snack stuff, but while I was doing what I was doing, Schoolmarm went out and grabbed snacks and stuff to make tacos for supper!!

I HATE IT WHEN I DON’T HAVE STUFF TO GRUMP ABOUT!!*

*makes me feel like I don’t have a purpose!! 😜🤣  😡

Gonna grump cuz I went to pull the red dot off my Sig P365XL and could not find the box the Romeo came in. Looked all over and the only thing I can figure out is I may have left it at work when we mounted the Romeo. Hope I find it tomorrow when I go in as I plan on selling the sight, it works well but I just can't get used to it for daily EDC. Also, the cover plate for the slide should be in the box. Grump on!

No grumps on tax filing this year!

Turbo Tax, e-file, got both state and federal refunds in less than two weeks. Now the GRUMP it isn't enough to cover my education taxes again this year.

MAJOR MINOR GRUMP!!!

I was rolling up some Black Powder .45 Colt loads while ago and the little tab the holds the advance pawl on the plastic ring on my Dillon 750 broke off!

It ain’t like I don’t have plenty of ammo put back, I’ve been steadily reloading the whole time I have been off my feet!!  I’m just thinking about having to replace the thing and waiting for it to get here!!

^#<€¥>}[]+*~£%!!!
