It was 64f this morning for a low! About ten degrees lower than most of the last month or so.  The forecast for today is a high of 73f which is twenty-five degrees below the average for the last month!!

It’s a very welcome change!!

I’ll be spending a little time in the shop today!😜😎

I’m going to see a cardiologist tomorrow to see if there’s a reason why I’m not recovering my stamina and strength!

I’m going to get back into my regular routine, no matter the outcome of tomorrow’s checkup!

Blackwater, do you have a pacemaker?  I have a 2 lead one only a couple years old or so and wasn't recovering either.  Feeling poorly, no energy.  Long story short, after much testing my cardiologists have determined my heart is getting much worse, the 2 lead is getting upgraded to a 3 lead with defibrillator within 2 weeks.   I'm in pretty bad shape so hopefully this will improve significantly  and get back to something called living.

No pacemaker. No history of heart problems. We’re just trying to rule out things that might be causing the problem.

Rev,

Prayers up for your situation. BTDT. The 3 lead ICD will hopefully make life easier and more enjoyable.

I had a 2 lead pacemaker installed in 2005 for my heart slowing down when I was inactive. It slowed down to the point I passed out due to low oxygen levels in my brain. In November 2006 it was replaced with a 3 lead ICD (defibrillator) type. Tachycardia was the diagnosis. Fibrillation of a lower chamber under exercise stress test at the Hospital.

I’ve worn out two batteries since then. The batteries lasted me 8-10 years. The latest replacement was earlier this year. They replace the whole unit rather than just the battery. Improved technology makes it worthwhile to change out the unit. These units have remote monitoring every night as I sleep.

2 year ago I was also diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation. The monitoring caught it. Dr adjusted my ICD and it controlled the Afib for a while. Eventually it didn’t control it completely. Turns out I don’t feel anything from the Afib. Dr says I’m just one of those people that ‘just live with it’. I’ve done just that ever since. No sense in complaining (which I do below). “Living with it is better than the alternative”.

Of course I have meds to prevent clots. That’s a PITA as blood thinners make life a little more ‘interesting’.

Good news, so far!! I had an EKG today and a verbal screening. We scheduled a stress test and ultrasound for two weeks from today.

Doc says it looks good so far, but we’re going to make sure before we decide that nothing is wrong!!

Some relief!  Still a mite trepidatious.

Blackwater, the EKG, stress test and ultasound are all good.   I hope the ultrasound is with and without dye.  Also if they do a chemincal stress test (not on a treadmill), there can be a percentage of people who have a false positive.  I had a heart cath as well since the findings of the stress test were not lining up with my symptoms.   Hope it all works out,  they'll figure it out.

I've had this pacemeaker only 3 years.  My heart (lower chambers) are not playing well together and getting worse.  Initially I was throwing PVC's like crazy, heart rate at 20 bpm.  After year of having this installed, my ejection fracture was down to 30%, not good.  So hopefully, this new shiny improved Cadillac version will have the bells and whistles I need to be able to throw some hay bales and shoot some SASS matches and chase the wife.

There is nothing quite "standard" about our house.  And the contractor ordered a door about 3" wider than the previous one, so he got to reframe it.  At last the S side of the house has new siding.  Monday, West side gets siding and a slider.  Then soffits and paint.  It's good progress.

Didn’t accomplish much today.  I had planned to spend time in the shop, got sidetracked and by the time I was free, it was too late to get out there.

I was able to spend a bit of time in the gun room. I received some steel shotgun shells the other day and I got a chance to fool around with them. They are copper plated and are a full 2 3/4” long with Berdan primers.

It’ll be interesting to see what I can do with them.

Shop time tomorrow for sure!

I found a gun up for auction on Gunbroker that I've been after for 15 years.  They don't show up often as they are extraordinarily rare.  I'm trying to figure out how much I can afford to bid.  *GRUMP* I may not have enough cash on hand!

Are you going to keep us in suspenders?

What is it you're longing for?

Got another few small steps completed in the shop today. I spent about three hours working on my Model T. I got all of my measurements ironed out and the marks made and labeled. I actually did some rough metal work today. Not the first, but I’m learning how to do some things that I took for granted before I misplaced that right index finger! 🙄

If all goes well, tomorrow I can spend a little more time and get a little more done! I need to keep plugging away at this if I’m to reach my goal of having this thing driving next year.  It’ll be a hundred years old then and I’m planning on getting it running, driving, licensed, and insured before 2027 is over!

Long and boring day for the most part today!

First, testing for Schoolmarm at the oncologist. ‘Bout an hour, and I had my music feed in the car, so I was comfortable.

Next, the foor doctor!! I walked to and from the office without having to stop and rest, (it’s about the distance of a football field) and my checkup was great! No sign of any problems and she said it looked better than she’d ever seen it!

Next, lunch at one of our favorite restaurants and a leisurely meal with no rush, ( best part of the day!) and a return to the oncologist for results of the morning’s tests.

After more than an hour’s wait, all tests were negative and all levels are nominal!

Finally, the aggravating drive home through city traffic!!

The good news outweighs the aggravation!!

Better than I probably deserve!

My son proposed to his GF tonight.  She said yes.  My family is growing.  And I have not met her yet.  They will be here for Christmas.  I am looking forward to that.

Trepidatious?

See what happens when you marry a school teacher!  It rubs off on you and you sound smarter than you really are.

After 32 years with a client's advocate who was working for an top-of-the-line attorney I sounded a lot smarter....but I only knew what about 3% of those words meant.

Get better, Old Son, and keep us posted.

You may not believe this, but when I was a kid, my mother had me keep composition books with the words I learned, written along with definitions.  If I asked what a word meant, I had to go and look it up, write it in the book, and write down the definitions.

She had me reading when I was four years old and I wrote backwards because I was left handed until I was almost six!  She taught me to write left to right before first grade!!

When I met my wife, she was amazed and impressed with my vocabulary.  We taught my son and grandsons to use the dictionary and to learn a strong vocabulary!!

Ya’ can be a hillbilly without being “ignernt” !! 🤣

I had a couple of productive days in the shop for a change!!

Hatfield is in the final stages of a full brake upgrade on a pickup truck for a customer. He’s replaced everything but the brake pedal!

I’m at a standstill on my rat rod project, so I’m concentrating on the Model T project until I get my engine parts back from the machine shop.

Saturday, I finished cutting out the last of the original floorboard bracing in the front of the car and got a pattern made for the cuts I needed to make to the new floor. I also cleard out room for the new brake pedal which will pass through parts of the original body and the new floor as well.

I DID have a minor accident. The metal saw I was using jumped backward and took a bite out of my left pinky finger!  It wasn’t anything serious, but it decided to bleed profusely! Took me several minutes to do first aid on it and longer than that to clean up the mess. I did go back to work finish what I was doing.

Yesterday, I had some help. J. Mark showed up to give us a hand around the shop. We finished cutting out the old floorboard bracing and did the cutaway on the new floor.
While J. Mark helped Hatfield with bleeding the brakes on the customer’s truck, I started the cutaway for the notch where the rear axle will pass through the body of the Model T. I’m lowering the car radically and this is necessary to keep things from interfering with each other.

When they finished with the truck, we lowered the new floor into place in the car and it’s now almost ready for me to start welding it all back together!
I’ll do some final tinkering with it today and maybe fire up the welder before the day is out. 😎

I do need to finish up some laundry too. The mundane stuff requires attention too, now and then…🙄

How was the rest of ya’s weekend??

Glad to hear you're back in the shop and having fun! Now just STOP with the bodily leaks! Geez!

I got the heating system back up and running last week. One of the new thermostats was defective, but fortunately I had ordered a spare to have on the shelf. Even though the eBay vender stated no returns, which I expect on electronic parts, they did refund my purchase within 3 minutes of my request! Other than this having to move BS, I have no real grumps this morning! I do expect pictures of your T project as it starts to look like something!

Carry on my friend.

Hatfield’s truck project is finished and the customer was ecstatic!!  The truck stops really well!

I mostly did cleanup and organizing chores all day. Nothing too strenuous, but time consuming. I was out there for five hours!

I did get the chassis set on the floor so that I could get some needed accurate measurements and I also began fastening the body and floor to the table top for the final welding before I test fit that stuff to the chassis.

Pics?? This was an early mockup for concept.

This is the chassis with the early portions of the floorboard assembled.

This was taken today while I was measuring for clearance over the rear axle.

If all goes well for the next few days and I survive the stress test and ultrasound on Thursday, I may have a first look at the body on frame as it will appear when I’m done in the very near future.
