BW pretty positive report!

It's been pretty warm here in the low 80's.  Tomorrow we're into the 70's and then the temps will crash into the 40's and 50's with rain incoming.  Going to try to get the lawn mowed tomorrow after dinner.

Today was nice here. Shot some muzzleloader up the road with 6 other old farts! Had a good time as always and then ice tea and donuts. Turned on the fridge in the camper to get ready for our clubs 2-day shoot this weekend, 10 srages. I and Ellie will go up to the range Friday morning to help with setup. Keeping fingers crossed on the weather, might get a spot shower or storm. Overall, not Grumpy!

Red Storm and I are heading to Kingston, Ontario, for a 6 stage with the Frontenac Regulators.

Temps will start in the low 60's heading up to the mid 70's by the afternoon.

Fortunately, no rain forecast.

It's coming down from Alaska.  Temps are going to drop to comfortable (albeit, still a bit warm for me).  By Sunday, highs in the mid 40's.

We started out with rain this morning and welcome!!  I got new tires on the Buick yesterday and made Schoolmarm’s appointment with PLENTY of time to spare! Her doc is making some subtle adjustments to her maintenance and wants her to get a stress test as a routine checkup since she hasn’t had one in decades.

Home health came this morning to put my new treatment into play. Did I mention that the two ladies that have cared for me for the last several episodes are my heroes?? We did the modifications on my shoes that the doc and I came up with. I joked that it was arts and crafts time and she laughed and said that whatever I was doing has worked better than anyone expected. (It ain’t me this time! It’s the ones that are listening to me and figuring out how to make it all work!)

Hatfield and I got the back brakes on the car done and we’ll probably get a refund on the pads. The hardware that came with the old ones jammed up and caused the outer pads to hang up in the calipers and wear ‘em out.

So now I’m kicked back with my feet propped up and looking at both my feet without a bandage in sight!!

Kinda’ cool, huh?  😜❤️

I’LL FIND SOMETHING TO GRUMP ABOUT LATER!!

That's wonderful!

Heat here has finally moved east.  Some of you are about to get hammered with it.  Cool and rainy today.  Cooler and more rain tomorrow, and then more so again on Sunday.  We need the rain.  Wildfire season has already started.  And I sure like the cooler weather!

Howdy guys, sorry I've been AWOL.

House wise things are going well here, just had our 42nd Anniversary, God has truly blessed me with a truly wonderful lady.

BW, sorry I missed you last battles, but glad you're better.

I have been pretty discouraged, that's why I wasn't on this forum. Health issues have kind of built up on me, I take some medications that we have experimented with.....but. I cannot get any of them that will not cause me to get seriously light headed if I get too warm. I was unable to even finish my last match due to this. Can't be shooting competitions with live ammo like that.  I did renew my SASS membership, so you guys are still gonna be stuck with me, just not on the stages.

Deciding which of my guns I will be selling off, some I just love too much to part with.

So grumping, but grateful to God for His blessings.

My friend God has kept me alive through numerous situations that should have left me dead or crippled. His Grace is getting me through this too. And prayers are always coveted. Thank you.

Deacon!! I can certainly relate to the medication situation! My doctors and I spent several years trying to find a combination that works for me and it was an arduous journey! It still makes me have to work around things sometimes.

That part of my life is under control for now and I’m to the point where I may soon be able to dispense with one or two prescriptions that have been with me for years!  The one true constant in life is CHANGE!

Like you, I ain’t willing to give up, so I just roll with the punches and look for new avenues that may take me where I want to go!

Don’t back down! You are still standing and I feel the fight still left in you!  Pick your spots and fight the battles that you have a chance to win! I hope you can get through this with the help of your friends! You’ve got one great one always in your corner and you can put your trust in him. The rest of us will be standing by.

Glad you’re back and you should not be a stranger!! We got your back and there’s always an ear to listen.  These folks have walked me through some tough times the last few years. They’ll do the same for you!

And if the heat gives you trouble, pick the times when it’s cooler and take your pleasures where you find ‘em!

Good advice there BW. Thanks

Hotter ‘n’ blazes here the last couple of days and it’s supposed to stay that way for a while!!  I reckon I’ll never get to where I want to stay out in the hot weather!

It’s been a week since they let me start walkin’ again and I haven’t had any problems so far. The home health nurse was by today and looked it over and changed the pad we’re using to keep it cushioned ‘til the hide toughens up some more. She said it’s getting better as we go.

We’re really bummed about the passing of Krazy Kajun. He was a good friend and the whole family knew him!

I’ve got two weeks ‘til the start of The Black Gold Shootout and I’m going to be there. Wish I was up to shooting the match, but I reckon I’ll have to be satisfied with hanging out and partying with my pards! (It could be worse!)

GONNA GRUMP cause I ain’t in shape ta’ shoot and it’s starting to get tougher to get inspired to do anything but GRUMP!!

BW, glad you're healing up!

It's starting to warm up here too.  The window A/C units are up for a workout.

Hoping to get to the range in the morning to function test/sight in the Alaskan.  Got a couple other guns to check sights on.  But need to be back in time to get one of the dogs to the vet.

Hotter en heck here too! Cleaned the Marlin and tried Widder's suggestion of using a 10/22 hammer spring. Had to snip one coil to keep it from binding and seems to work well. Had one cartridge with a CCI primer that I had to hit twice! It already had a light hit from my pistols, but all my normal rifle rounds with Federals went off. Got a state match coming up in a couple weeks and we'll see how it goes!! I'll bring the old spring and washers just in case!

Sounds like pretty good news on your front BW. So sorry for the loss of your friend. 😕 I guess I'd like to know what happened. Seems odd.

Aside from the heat, not grumpin too much!

Got hit here with a violent thunderstorm and high winds.

Neighbours, as well as city wide, had shingles blown off, trees & hydro poles down, with outages, etc. along with some flooding.

One of my window wells flooded and water came in, but some work with the wet vac and dehumidifiers took care of that, but some boxes and papers got wet.

The largest/scariest issue was the water in the window well, rising up almost 12 inches against the basement window! It was like looking into an aquarium w/o the fish!

The wet vac was able to suck it dry however.

Surprisingly, my new flag survived the winds, although my flag pole was leaning in the "breeze".

This is my friend and City Councilor, getting ready to raise it, in preparation for Canada Day, July 1st.

Howdy Boys, been cooking hot here but we did get some rain this afternoon and that cooled it off about 10 degrees. Getting the place ready for our Great-niece Emma;s Birthday tomorrow. She's turning 18 and she asked that no 4th of July stuff, since she is always having to "share" the day.

BW, great news on your continued healing, and I too am gonna miss Kajun, got to meet him at Alabama and we hit it off.

Only thing I will grump about is folks that don't realize how great our Country is!

Happy 250th and happy 4th of July!

The foot doc has given me permission to store the scooter! The work we did with my shoes has worked out well! I’ll be using an adhesive pad on that heel for a while longer, but if my next appointment in two weeks is as good as this one, I’ll be able to discontinue the pads too! If I make it to that point, I’ll be back on the three month plan again!

I’m finally off those rough antibiotics and back on my maintenance meds. I’d just about had enough of the digestive side effects and it took five days for them to let up!

I’m starting to get ready for The Black Gold Shootout next weekend. I’m going to sell some of the cowboy guns that have spent the last several years in the back of the safe.  I’ve come to the conclusion that I may never get back to shooting competitively and it’s unlikely that I’ll try a forty or forty-eight gun match again. Schoolmarm has retired from shooting, other than staying proficient with her personal protection gear. Hatfield might shoot some more after the grandson is settled in at college and I’m able to make it through a match on my own.

I have more than enough guns to outfit both of us and the grandson, so I aim to cash in some of the little used iron in my safe and use it to do other things.  The projects in the shop might benefit from a few extra bucks.

I might try to put a few rounds down range if I keep feeling better next week. Otherwise, I’m ready to have some fun and get face to face with folks I ain’t seen in a spell!!

Y’all GRUMP for me! I ain’t got much to complain about right now!!

Glad to hear the good news on your foot!

I'm in the same boat.  I've so many guns in the safe that are unlikely to be used, that I may part with a bunch of 'em.

Hit 102 today,  Only had about a dozen days that hot since we moved her 12 years ago.  It seldom goes over 94-95 and then stays for a short time.  It helps to be at a mile or more high.  My house is at just seven feet short of a mile altitude.

Now then some 25-30 mile south of here clear down below the Mexican border it gets Hell hot, up to 115 or more some days.

I broke down and ordered a pair of Springfield Hellcats, with dot sights.  One each for wife and I.  I have heard good things about them.  I love my local gunshop.  Made the order entirely by text message.  And she didn't want a deposit.  Relationships are important.

I spent the weekend preparing for the Black Gold Shootout. I’m not shooting, but I’ve helped with registration and such for several years and I can handle that, I’m fairly certain.

The biggest task was preparing for the Cowboy Yard Sale! I’ve decided to thin the crowd in my safe a little and convert some guns into upgrading my domicile!

It’s really HARD for me to part with guns that I really like, some of them with stories. I sorted through the safe and chose a few that I seldom used and a couple that I haven’t had the chance to. Two are new, unfired revolvers that I wanted and caught at bargains, but have never even loaded and another that has only had five rounds put through it!

Parting with them is a little painful, but I’ve come to the conclusion that I will probably never shoot another forty gun match, Schoolmarm has retired from shooting, Hatfield seldom has the time to shoot, and the youngest grandson is headed off to college in another month. I just don’t need all of these and someone else does!

I made sale tags for everything, pistols, shotguns, a little ‘66 carbine, and a bunch of small items that nobody here uses, along with a small batch of .32 S&W ammo that I discovered from my pocket pistol days.

I’ll finish packing and get the Buick ready today so that I can leave early tomorrow morning. I’ll be stopping in to see Curly Bill Kelly on the way. He’s kindly agreed to give me a hand with a problem child of a project and I want to get a look at his operation.

It’s kinda’ like manic depression!! I’m sorta depressed about parting with my toys, but I’m excited to be getting out and going to hang out with some of my favorite folks!

I know the feeling BW. I've been trying to downsize my 40 year collection of crap! Selling stuff sucks. Lots of window shoppers but buyers are few!! And the stupid questions drive my me crazy! GRUMP! Like my 65 year old backhoe for $2500, people want to know if I think they can drive it over a hundred miles home! Nooo!
