Doc Shapiro Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Raining here. And the rain jacket I ordered won't be here until middle of next week.... 2 Quote
Chickasaw Bill SASS #70001 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 well the dang Drs chopped on me yesterday and I am so bored I be gettin' goofier than normal already looks like I will be down for a week or better gotta find something to do CB 4 1 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 Hope you’re going to mend well and swiftly, CB! Lunch was good times today! We sat around for more than two hours, (we DID tip the server well) and talked old time, guns, getting old, and getting together for a major jam session with all of the present and former members of the band!! I made, what to me was, a surprising discovery. I had agreed, reluctantly, to meet up at the local OUTBACK steakhouse which has been a “NO GUNS” place for a number of years! They’d taken down the signs and placards at the entrance!! It was quite a bit more relaxed for us because two of us were carrying! A little bit let down now because the grandson had to go back to his mom’s this evening! He’s a big bright spot in our house when he’s here! Already got my GRUMP in for today. Y’all pick it up!! 4 Quote
DeaconKC Posted April 2 Posted April 2 CB, praying for you. Take care and drop in if you feel like it. Got a call from my G'nephew Lucas this afternoon asking if I could pick him up for Church tonight, so I grabbed him and of course he was hungry [normal 14 year old appetite with skin] and had got to go fishing after school and before Church. His Dad looked over the 4 wheeler and pronounced our repair would hold up. So Lucas was proud of it. So, on general principal.... Grumpitygrumpgrump. Quote
Crotchety Old Grouch, SASS #51188 Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Ok gonna be 70's and sunny this weekend, which gun cart should I use? I'm leaning toward the little one but can't decide. 3 Quote

Cactus Jack Calder Posted April 3 Posted April 3 COG, Like Eyesa, I like the bigger one also. Both need a pair of Pommel Holsters. 😄 Been kinda busy this week. Monday had a Heart Catheterization. Dr placed a Stent in the Right Carotid Artery. This makes 4 Stents, in 30 years so far. In recovery Dr said I’d need to come back 4/17/26 for another Stent in my Left Anterior Descending Artery (the Widow Maker). I don’t know why she didn’t do it Monday. Perhaps I was too long under the stress of bodily invasion. One pleasant thing that came of this. My present Cardiologist is retiring. The Dr who did the Cath has agreed to take over as my regular Cardiologist. She is very personable and a real cutie. Maybe 1/2 my age, maybe younger. My old Dr is a great guy but not quite as pretty. He rides a big bike like COG’s and has a handsome Gunfighter Mustache, but he still ain’t as pretty as my new Dr. 😊 So a prayer or two would be greatly appreciated. I have a strong faith and connection to my Church and I am on their Prayer List. I know the Lord has the best plans for me. So I am not greatly worried, as the outcome will be the correct one. Doc Shapiro Posted April 3 Posted April 3 This is likely the last day for homemade pizza for a while. Temps are heading up and I don't run the oven when it's warm. We do not have A/C. And one last ski day tomorrow. The mtn got a foot Wed night and Thurs morning. Nothing like a little refresh! 3 Quote
DeaconKC Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Good afternoon all, 71F here, sunny and just gorgeous. Survived the hour on the MRI table, Lady C got me home, I ate some lunch and took my GOOD meds, so I will be out shortly. You all play nice. 1 1 Quote
DeaconKC Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Well, the heavier drugs have worn down from the MRI earlier and at least I know I am not a hypochondriac. Turns out I have four slightly bulged discs in my back and one that is bulged. Thank God there are no completely ruptured ones. So I go to a Doc next week for my evaluation. I am thanking God for this news, especially since the accident on 2003 could have killed me or left my paralyzed. You guys have a good evening, mine is improved. 3 Quote
Doc Shapiro Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Glad you can finally get the treatment you need! A lot of you would have loved the weather here today. Upper 60's and sunny. I am not ready for this!!! On the other hand, the weather station I bought is amazing. Finally have accurate outside temps, wind gauge, rain gauge, lightning detector, barometer, etc. I quite like it, and 25% off too! 3 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted April 7 Author Posted April 7 (edited) Been a little down the last couple of days. Just ain’t got any energy or inclination! Broke one of the pedals on my old stationary bike, (the strap tore out) and I need to replace both of them. They’re older than white dog crap! I have several other small projects that need my attention and I can’t seem to get motivated to tackle ‘em! I DID watch the moon fly-by for a while today. I’d go in a heartbeat if I got the opportunity! Nothing big to report from here… I’LL THROW IN A GRUNT AND SEVERAL GRUMBLES FOR GENERAL PRINCIPLE!! 🤨😡 Edited April 7 by Blackwater 53393 2 1 1 Quote

Anyway, gonna be an easy day here, my Missus is meeting our G'niece Nataley for lunch, she's getting off school early today, and my plan is to drink coffee and have some leftovers for lunch. And I'll just grump right back to ya! 2 Quote

Blackwater 53393 Posted April 9 Author Posted April 9 Pretty day, today! I got a couple of chores done and I’m doing laundry now. Got notice that my escrow account has taken a hit because my “hazard insurance” has doubled and my property taxes are going to be higher this year. I’m exploring a different insurance provider. This will raise my monthly mortgage payment a good bit if I can’t find a new insurance provider. There’s legislation in the state congress to give seniors with twenty or more years in their residence a pass on property taxes. I hope it’ll pass, but I have my doubts. Anyhow, it’s a bummer and I’m GRUMPING MY A$$ OFF! 4 Quote

Between improvements and property values rising, the place has doubled in value in the last ten years! 1 1 Quote
Chickasaw Bill SASS #70001 Posted April 9 Posted April 9 same here , taxes on real property have more than doubled in the last 10 years appraised value has jumped by that factor as well lots of new folks moving into the area everyday , 75+ families per day traffic is getting real nasty . I know a bunch of folks that have moved out into woods to get away from the stupid thinking I need to find some where to go myself , way too crowded CB 2 Quote

Blackwater 53393 Posted April 12 Author Posted April 12 Went to my grandson’s high school Night of the Arts yesterday evening and then took him and Hatfield out to supper! The skit they performed for the drama class’ portion of the show was written by one of the senior class members and they presented it three times so that folks could tour the other exhibits and still get to see the performance! It was fun! Grandson has chosen the college that he will attend in the fall. He received a sizable scholarship that could be used anywhere, (a presidential scholarship) but he’s decided to stay close to home. The school has a large performing arts program and a comprehensive curriculum and great facilities supported by the Nashville music industry and several well known film and stage organizations. Other than me stubbing a toe early this morning, (it bled profusely for a few minutes) I ain’t got much to GRUMP about this evening! NOW! GET OFF THE FRESH CUT LAWN!! 4 Quote
Rip Snorter Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Only one of the folks I went through Speech / Dramatic Arts with in college has had an amazing career as an actor. That said, it was an extremely useful half of my double major in a business career. Best of luck to the young gent! 2 1 Quote
Doc Shapiro Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Sheesh, the cable on the lever that opens the recliner on my wife's chair broke. After going through it, I practically have to disassemble the chair to replace it. Pretty sure I can make something that'll work with a bicycle brake lever mounted to a piece of PVC, and rig up the cable to work the mechanism. Going to stop by the bike shop in the morning and get the needed parts (I have a brake lever and some pvc on hand), so just need a cable, housing, and the cable anchor bolt. It's always something. GRUMP 3 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago My old recliner broke a few months ago and Schoolmarm bought me a new one online! I HATE the damned thing! It won’t recline unless the footrest is raised, I can’t get the footrest to stow unless someone pushes it back for me because it doesn’t have a lever to operate it and my knees don’t fold tight enough to make it fold completely, the way it’s designed steadily causes me to slide downward whether it’s reclined or not, and the armrests slope downward toward the front of the chair so that I can’t place anything on them or use them to help me stand up out of the chair! The lesson is don’t buy furniture that you can’t try out first!! This chair has become an ongoing aggravation for me and for everyone else who has to use it!! On a lighter note!! I got new pedals for my stationary bike and found some replacement feet for it in the process! They isolate the bike from direct contact with the floor which makes it a lot less noisy when I ride it! The pedals are designed specifically for stationary bikes which lets me wear other shoes besides my barefoot shoes and the straps on the new ones are easy to adjust and much more comfortable on my insteps. I’ll be much more comfortable and more happy to ride more now. My major gripe today is that I bought some really good Bavarian cream filled donuts the other day, but Hatfield and Schoolmarm ate ‘em all before I got a single one!! The little mom ‘n’ pop donut shop is all the way across town so I don’t get over there very often!! I DID get to have an apple fritter that is out of this world, but it don’t make up for not gettin’ at least one of those donuts!! 😡😡😡 RAZAFRAKINGROWLINGRUMBLEMUMBLE, GRUMP! 2 1 Quote
