gonna be cold overnight and cooler tomorrow after near 40s weather last couple days but then back up into the unseasonably warmer weather - its very enjoyable break from that below zero stuff we had been having , but its only the first of feb - we got a lot of winter left to go ,

would be great to think we might get 88 replay but im not thinking that likely , that year it did this and just kept getting warmer till we hit 103 on memorial day - not likely to have that happen again

We're supposed to be a high or 16 today and way below zero tonight. Wind chill around minus 45 they claim! High if 6 tomorrow . Usually a 10 degrees colder right here! Then getting into the upper 20s next week, maybe even 30.

It's still unseasonably warm and dry.  I DO NOT LIKE THIS *GRUMP*.  I think the pattern will change in a week.  We very badly need snow.

Won’t get out of the thirties here today, but up in the fifties tomorrow. Still dropping below freezing every night until Tuesday!

I got some picture frames yesterday for a batch of certificates and match awards that I decided to frame and hang. Hatfield’s SASS certificate and my Jedi Gunfighter certificate, (thanks, Lawdog Dom!) were the important ones.  So, I spent the morning after breakfast, framing those and straightening up in the gun room.

I mentioned in a previous post that I’m having a little trouble with my back aching badly at times and having to wait for my doctor’s appointment. While I was fooling around this morning, I leaned back in my chair to stretch and take a little strain off my lower back and when I did, the chair back broke and dumped my big ass out in the floor!😳  I wasn’t hurt, but now I don’t have a seat in the gun room that’s low enough to work directly off the bench! I can use my band stool to operate the Dillon and the MEC, but I can’t comfortably use the Rock Chucker or the Deitemeyer!!😡😡😡

I ordered a new chair, one that’s rated for 400lbs and it’s supposed to be here Tuesday!

I reckon I won’t be doing much reloading, (I COULD run off some hot .45s in lieu of anything better to do) but I can hang those certificates and my new wall clock and maybe do some “honey dos” ‘tim my new chair gets here.

In the meantime, I sent the old chair out to the shop. I can use it as a low stool for welding and stuff.

MY MELLON BOUNCED OFF THE CARPET AND I AIN’T HAPPY ABOUT IT!!

I stuck the landing!  I landed absolutely flat on my back, the chair back in perfect alignment with my lower back! Except for gently bumping my noggin on the carpet, I was never in any pain or discomfort!  The chair back is padded. I laid there for a couple of minutes and then laughed my posterior off!

HELL! I was lucky!! I could have landed on any of a number of different things or bounced off of shelves, benches, or my stool!

As far as any series of unlucky events, I haven’t slowed down much about doing all those things that I have always done!! That’ll eventually catch up to ya’, if you know what I mean!

It’s going on a year since I’ve been in the hospital or had to be treated for any physical problems! I’m slowly gaining on my balance issues, (although it sometimes feels like I back up a step or two) I’ve been cooking and building ammo, and I’m about ready to get back out in the shop!

For all that I have gotten away with in my travels, adventures, and misadventures, I am still way ahead and looking for the next episode!! 😜😎

It's in the mid 40's again today.  Did go skiing this morning and had a lesson, which was really helpful.  We're expecting rain tomorrow, something like 3/4 of an inch before the cool air filters in and it turns to snow late.  It will be all snow at the ski hills where they will see over 10 inches of the white stuff before it wraps up.  And I have to work Monday GRUMP.

The following week the patter finally gets good for snow, and I'm taking that week off!

Good evening folks, had a pretty good day here, the back is improved, almost able to stand straight with some effort. Anyway I was able to get off my strong pain meds, so that is good.

BW, will you behave?! Quit playing rough with the furniture, that stuff costs money! Glad you're okay.

Got up to 55 and sunny today, supposed to be mild temps here this week. Anyway you all be good.

I got my replacement chair for the gun room yesterday evening, some assembly required !

Got up this morning and drug the box into the gun room and set about putting it together! It’s a nice heavy duty chair with several adjustable features, but there was literally NOTHING pre assembled. It took me the better part of an hour to get it all done and would have taken longer if I hadn’t had my own tools.

it sure is an improvement over my old chair!

I spent most of the weekend on my backside! My hip and leg were giving me fits. I’m still a week away from getting a cortisone shot to put the inflammation to rest again.  I’d say it was chronic if it flared up more often, but it’s usually more than a year between episodes.  Unfortunately, when it gets going, it’s pretty debilitating! I can get around and do most anything, but it sure does make me miserable.

The last of the ice around the back stairs finally melted away last night! We’d been able to get to the back deck, but the stairs dropped off into the driveway and the sun never hits that area. It was slick and troublesome to get to the vehicles unless we went out the front door.

Now I’m a little tired and I think it’s time for a nap!!  I won’t grump if nobody wakes me up before supper…

A tip on chairs and assembling.  I have gotten the floor sample by adding a $20 bill.  Worth it when it works.

Bought it from Amazon. Ordered it on Sunday and it was delivered on Monday!! I was sitting in it by lunchtime today and I never left the house!!

Howdy all, my back woke me up so here I am. Getting a CT scan Tuesday on it, then will set up an appointment with a neurosurgeon to see what needs to be done.

It's 55F here and dark! Supposed to be sunny later today and hit 77F.

Watched one of the best basketball games I have seen in years last night, Arkansas v Alabama, back and forth, two Overtimes with Alabama winning by one point at the buzzer when Arkansas missed it's final shot.

Anyway, gotta grump about somethin, so git offa my lawn!

Finally got to see my doctor on Monday! I’ve continued to gain weight due to inactivity and a healthy appetite. Got my cortisone shot and it’s helping!  I was able to sleep comfortably all night last night.

I went to pick up my meds at the pharmacy and was told that my injectable is now only available in one month quantities!! I’ve been getting all my medications in 90 day quantities for years, including this one!! Now I have to go to the pharmacy every month and it ain’t exactly on the way to ANYWHERE! 😡

We got our tax refund last night! Probably just use it for keeping up with some of the bills, but it was substantial enough to give us some extra relief.

Cowboy Lunch today! Gonna meet up with a dozen or so of the local miscreants for our monthly lunch and bull session! We pick an eatery and invade it, have a good meal, and usually make some server or servers happy we came!

It has warmed up here for the short term and we haven’t had a sub-freezing night in nearly a week, but I’m seeing some frosty nights in the forecast!

If it weren’t for the prescription thing and my continued slow recovery, all I’d have to GRUMP about is getting fat! If i can recover enough to be able to do some real work, I’d be taking care of that problem too!!

Mostly, JUST GRUMPING ON GENERAL PRINCIPLE!!

GET OFF MY CRUSTY CRUNCHY BROWN LAWN!!

Lunch Thursday with the cowboys was great! Good food and lots of conversation! Caught up on the goings on and folks got some trading in too!

I received the long anticipated hard copy of my new Homeland Security approved driver’s license! The picture is lousy, but it looks just like me!  It has a weird code number that I don’t have a clue as to what it is or does.

The oldest grandson and I did some outside chores and hauled away some of the scrap metal and used up old car parts from the shop on Saturday.  Made it much easier to get around in the shop and the yard is looking better too!

I gotta get some new tire valve extensions for Ol’ Green! The tire shop that did my tire rotation last time, (you might know that if I didn’t do it myself it wouldn’t be done right) left them off when they did the back wheels. 😡 I was just out of the hospital, (it’s been almost two years) and farmed the job out! When we went to check tires before the dump run, we couldn’t do the rears at all and Hatfield had a car on the lift and the jack under another car. I tipped the guy at the tire shop down the road a ten spot for pulling the back wheels and airing them all up. 🙄

RACING SEASON IS BACK!!  Two good races at Atlanta this afternoon!  BBQ chicken for supper tonight and cherry pie for dessert! No wonder I’m fat!!🤨

Turning back into winter tonight! Y’all stay warm and dry!!

GRUMP AGAIN AND CARRY ON!!

I buried my plow truck yesterday in a snow bank! Slid on some ice on the first run and got sucked right in. Took a bit over an hour to chop and shovel it out. I'm tired of snow now! GRUMPALLTOHELL

Howdy guys, well the back has finally improved enough that I made it to Church this morning. Man, it was so good to get back. Listened to the Cardinals game this afternoon, then took a nap. Gonna heat up some leftovers in a bit, might even make some coffee to go with it. Tuesday I get a CT scan on my spine to see what is actually wrong. Weather is cool but pretty, gonna start warming up again Tuesday.

Only thing I can grump about is my old house shoes finally fell apart.

I took the last week off and spent most days at one of the ski hills.  Took a picture this morning, our house is center left, through the trees, on the far side of the valley.

Best part was I didn't cook a damned thing.  Took a week off that too.  We supported local restaurants.  Now the GRUMP.  It's warming up.  Snow is melting, again.  Rain in the forecast for Tuesday, about an inch.  It's gonna melt all our lovely snow.  This winter has not been good.

I cooked up some really good chorizo yesterday morning to make some queso dip! I used a bunch of that with some cream, American cheese, pepper jack, swiss, and cream cheese that I melted down and mixed. I dumped some sliced, pickled jalapenos and some finely chopped onion into it and set much of the chorizo aside.

I chopped some tomato and some more jalapenos, piled it in amongst some tortilla chips with some more of the chorizo, then poured the queso over it and spread some chunky salsa around the outside of the plate!  Some good eatin’!!!

But tonight, Schoolmarm took the remainder of the chorizo and mixed it with some chopped, smoked chicken and made tacos!! With the queso and the salsa, we had a great supper and I’m fixin’ ta’ cut me a slice of homemade cherry pie and top it with some Dairy Queen ice cream for dessert!!

Shore is hard to GRUMP when ya’ get that kind of fare!! ❤️😜

Good morning folks, 30F here today and sunny, supposed to hit 50. I am so glad I am now where we only have to be inconvenienced a couple times a year. Actually I am going to buy a snow blower just for those times, I'm too old and grumpy to get out and shovel that stuff anymore. Fifty years ago I actually thrived on shoveling snow for us and our neighbors in Chicago. Just goes to show how mentally unstable teenagers are.

Anyway, last night I slept well, just one potty break, and thankful the back is on the mend. Still going for a CT scan tomorrow to see if they can figure out what caused the last three weeks' pain.

Anyway, lifting my coffee cup to you all this morning.

Been a few days! Some good! Some bad!

I finally got out in the shop for some constructive destruction!! We disassembled my train tracks and got them stored with the rest of the model train stuff. That cleared up one space big enough to put both of my motorcycles and one of the big welders in.

THAT cleared room for the freezer I’m getting from my mom. She’s moving in with my sister and we’re dispersing a bunch of things that she doesn’t want or need.

We rearranged a bunch of stuff and hauled out another load of junk parts and cardboard boxes and the like!  I picked up a new air/hydraulic cylinder for my engine hoist and we ordered some used oil handling equipment.

The bad! I got a call from Forty Rod last night and he informed me that he’s in the hospital with some issues that are concerning. I posted what information I have on a separate thread and will update as I receive new news.

Better!  Me ‘n’ Schoolmarm went with friends yesterday to see the Elvis documovie. Spent the afternoon at a great steakhouse for a big meal and then the movie and good time with our friends! MUCH NEEDED!!

To add a silly note to this post, my SASS number is 53393 and this is my 53,393 post on the wire!!  As my old buddy, Badger Mountain Charlie would say, I reckon that makes me a regular “blabberfingers”! 🤣

Awful quiet in here!!

I guess everybody is grumped out??

I ain’t had anything new to vent about since my last installment!  I got stuff cleaned up and looking better in the shop. We disposed of almost a full drum of old used motor oil and I have a few new small items that will help that to be less of a problem.

I got the results from my bloodwork back yesterday morning and if you go by the numbers, I’m healthy as a horse! My best a1c ever and the cholesterol and triglycerides are way down in the nominal range!  Good meds and occasionally some better choices!  I go to the farrier next week! We’ll see what she has to say.

I had to tear into my refrigerator to clear an ice buildup behind the center drawer! I disassembled the drawer and used my heat gun to melt out the ice, but I’ll have to do more to prevent it from happening again! The interweb says that the drain tube is clogged and the unit must be completely torn apart to get to it! The back of the fridge is sealed, so it takes removing the inner liner to access the drain! 😡 (planned obsolescence!)

I’m trying to do more and to be more active, but a walk to the mailbox, (about a hundred-fifty foot stroll with four stairs) leaves me winded and rubber kneed! A little better the last couple of trips, but not enough to be encouraging!!

I had to assemble two new bar stools for the kitchen on Tuesday! My favorite folding stool has become pretty rickety and Schoolmarm demanded that we replace it! I want to get rid of the kitchen table and put in a bar/island later this year, so I ordered two stools.  The guy that wrote the instructions and whoever drew the diagrams had their heads up…!  It took me almost an hour and a half to get the first one put together and I noticed that some of the fasteners were pictured wrong in the directions which added to the assembly time and to my frustration!  Took less than 20 minutes to get the second one done and they’re pretty nice!

I’ll GRUMP,BITCH, GROUSE, AND GRUMBLE while I go to the kitchen and get me a plate of fresh cooked pot roast and then some of the blackberry pie I baked this morning!!

Y’ALL KEEP THE MISCREANTS OFF THE BROWN SOGGY LAWN!!
