No happiness with SSA today. The reg locked up when Ellie put her 3rd verification!!! Amazing you need 3 methods of verification just to read an email!!

I’m still fighting with the Georgia DMV! No information yet as to what the charge is, what they expect, or even if they can find the documents!!

Schoolmarm’s oncology appointment went very well! She’d lost a little weight, her critical levels have all improved, good for another month!!

Yesterday, I was trying to hang some pictures and cut my, (what is now) my little toe on my left foot. It’s really just a big scratch, but it bled like it was cut off!! No pain, (neuropathy) and it’s now bandaged up and doing fine. I guess I just need to wear shoes when I stand on a ladder from now on!!

Reckon I’ll spend the day today in the gun room. Maybe load up some shotgun shells or something!

The pictures and plaques can wait ‘til I can get my grandson over to give me a hand

I HATE NOT BEING ABLE TO DO STUFF LIKE I AM USED TO DOING BECAUSE MY BALANCE AND STAMINA ARE SHOT!!

I’ve STILL got a long way to go…

I sure know the feeling of not being able to do stuff since they messed up my shoulder! Glad to hear Schoolmarm is doing better. The foot thing sucks! Take it easy.

Bottom line with SSA is you can't create an account if phone is via VOIP which is most of us in Vermont that are now on broadband! GRUMP. Finally got them to put us back on paper communication after almost a decade of being paperless. Gotta just love it! 🤬 Grrrr

BW, I sure understand how aggravating neuropathy is. Take care of that foot. And great news about Schoolmarm.

Got some good news today, LadyC took her Tucson to the tire store for a new set of tires and they told her there was a lot of life and tread left in them, so not to replace them. I definitely know where we WILL be getting tires from now on.

*sigh* This winter has not been good to us.  Snow has moved out, another high pressure will settle over.  Temps are going to warm up, potentially to 40 by mid next week.  And no snow for at least the next week and a half, possibly longer.

Yeh same here. Got warm enough that 8 inches of soft wet snow slid off the 60 ft. long garage roof into the driveway, right up against the building and doors. Oh fricken wonderful! ARRGHGRUMP

This is the first time I’ve posted here. I’ve followed this thread for a while. I know this will be a bit lengthy.

My Grump:

I decided to spend Christmas with one of my Son’s and Family and New Years with the other Son and Family. I live in North Carolina, first Son in Sault St. Marie, MI and second Son in Rochester, NY. I flew from Raleigh, NC to Detroit, MI. In Detroit I had to hike from one end of the very long terminal to the other then they changed the gate to the original end. At least the flight was delayed 2.5 hours so I had plenty of time to walk. Then the flight was delayed another hour. I thought I might have to sleep there. Finally made to SSM. 12” of fresh snow on top of 12” of old packed down snow and my Grandson picked me up at the airport to drive home. He’s a new driver so we went 20 mph slower than the speed limit. I’m glad he is cautious but the other drivers seem to think we are on a racetrack.

After Christmas my next leg of travel was cancelled due to continued snowfall. So I rescheduled for a later date, which was cancelled the next day. Rescheduled again, get to the airport and there is a paper note on the entry the flight is canceled. However, there are people inside who look like they are checking in, so I went over to the counter and when I asked the clerk said “Oh, that was yesterday’s flight. I forgot to take it down. Your flight is only delayed 2 hours. There was not that much time in the Detroit layover. I asked about the connection and the clerk kindly informed me that the flight from Detroit to Rochester was also delayed, 4 hours. Finally got to Rochester on 01/04/ 26, missed New Years with my second Son, but we still get together. After one more reschedule of my trip home I seem to be set to get home to NC tomorrow.01/11/26. I also got to visit one more time with my Cousin here in Rochester. He is in Hospice Care and I’m not likely to get up here again before he passes.

So despite the hassles of flying in the north in winter I very glad I came and saw family. Some Grumps, but several happy memories also.

Wish me luck tomorrow!!

I’m STILL fighting with the state of Georgia!! You’d think  they’d have some information by now! It’s been five days. I guess their records are still on scrolls or maybe stone tablets!!

Spent the last couple of days doing heavy housework! It’s the stuff that isn’t done in the regular routine, but I won’t call it “spring cleaning”!!  I guess it’s a result of extreme boredom!

Temp’s gonna drop tonight. Just to freezing, not too cold but a big change from the 70s the last few days!

My big old recliner finally died on me!  Had it for nearly twenty years and it ain’t reparable. Schoolmarm bought me a new one for my birthday and it arrived a couple days ago! I guess I’ll have to get used to it. It’s awkward to operate and makes it difficult to get out of, particularly after being reclined. The first time I laid back in it, Schoolmarm had to come to my rescue!!🤪

But I just pulled a big ol’ apple pie out of the oven and it’s gorgeous! If it tastes as good as it looks, (which I have no doubt of) I’ll be happy for three or four days!!

DOC SHAPIRO!!  Tn Stud said to tell you howdy!!

Reckon I can GRUMP ON GENERAL PRINCIPLE!!

Well after countless attempts and waiting  3 times for 3-4 hours for call backs from Social Security it seems we're back to paper as we can't have a paperless account!!

You can't have a VOIP phone as they can't seem to verify it!🤬 They all this is for security! My old account that I've had for ten years is no longer, so I need a new account.

Write a nice cordial contact to my Senator explaining the issue as copper land lines are dinosaurs and folks are going to Broadband Fiber and the phone is VOIP apparently. The system won't take most cell phones either.

He gets back to me with the contact info for Social Security 🤬

Effin dumbass. On the last call when I had to go back to paper communication, the lady said ok and your messages will in the mail in ten days. That was sure secure!!!

I'm grumpinticked but will continue the battle!

 This makes no sense

I did a dumbass thing this morning ‘cause I was hurrying! I had not been out of the house in a couple of days and I have been doing to do list stuff, I forgot that I had picked up my billfold and stuck it in my jeans last night and it got washed this morning!! 🙄🤪

One of the biggest rewards for doing these heavy chores is that I get to spend time in the kitchen, (that’s where the goodies are) and since I’m working, I expect to be rewarded handsomely!

I was going through the fridge, cleaning out the leftovers that we’ll never eat and I found a couple of deep dish pie crusts that I had forgotten.  In the pantry, there was enough pie filling to use up both of those crusts!

Schoolmarm went to the grocery and picked up some staples for the next week and I had her grab a pair of flat rolled pie crusts for toppers.

While I was fixing stuff and straightening up, I did a little baking! I do pies better than anyone else in the family, that according to my mom and my sister, so I get the job of producing good pie!!

The apple has cinnamon, honey, and a touch of brown sugar cooked into it before it was placed in the crust.

The cherry has cinnamon, honey, Burbon, and a dash of cayenne.

It’s O.Dark :22 and I made it home with no glitches.

Thanks to all that wished me luck. I’ll say it worked.

Now I’m gonna sleep till noon.

Nothing to Grump about tonight. Tomorrow  I’ll see what happened here while I was gone and find a reason to Grump about that.

Just to keep up the community standard you know.

We often comment about folks using the wrong terminology relating to firearms. Now I would expect LEOs to be pretty good about those common errors.

Last night, watching one of those now many real Cop shows. About 5 shots went through a second story apartment window from outside. The officer is narrating to the cameraman. Camera shows a bullet lying on the floor and the officer points out and states the "casing", then he points to a few holes in the ceiling and says that's where the "shells" went into the attic! Geez guys! 😡

I'm pretty certain the cases/shells were likely on the ground 2 stories down!

Dumbing down for the camera??

It reminds me of the tale of the camera crew interviewing a City employee who had a trench open, laying bare some busted pipes.

The interviewer asked how they could tell which pipe carried potable water and which was sewage.

The worker bent and dipped his second finger into the liquid, then tasted his index finger and told her, "That one's sewage."

That portion of the  interview didn't make the 6:00 news.

I went out on an 8" sewer markout once and the Town worker pointed out to an observer that the leaking one carried coffee! The guy said "Oh, I didn't know the Town provided coffee!" We are sure educating them these days!

Not a word from Georgia today!! My reputation as an outlaw can only grow since my license has now expired!!  I turned 73 years old at 5:35 pm CST today and that’s the expiration date for my drivers’ license!

I treated myself to a day spent mostly in the “gun room”! I’ve been ignoring my luber/sizer for a while now. It was sizing fine but the lube function was entirely out of adjustment for any of the bullets that I’m currently using. I had intended to switch to SPG lube for a run of Black Powder cartridges, but I hadn’t gotten around to setting the unit up.

I cooked out the remaining smokeless lube using the heater and a heat gun and cleaned it thoroughly.  I put a stick of fresh SPG lube in and then set about getting it all adjusted. Took the better part of an hour, but it now will lube three bullets between tugs on the ratchet! It’ll work on my 200 and 185gr bullets and my little sissyfied 160gr slugs too!

I ran a batch of a hundred 200gr bullets and set my Dillon 750 for 35.5 grains of FFFg and put two 50 round boxes of new Black Powder ammo on the shelf! It sure is faster to load lubed bullets that to put over powder cards and wonder wads in each case, AND they hold a lot more powder too! 😜

Schoolmarm made up a batch of thick, spicy chili for supper tonight and I ain’t got another blessed thing to do this evening!

I see my audiologist tomorrow at 10:00 and there’s nothing much else on my schedule for the rest of the week!!  It’s a good thing! The FAT RED HO HO has ‘bout got me destitute ‘til payday!! 😵‍💫 🙄

Happy belated birthday!

Been hectic hereabouts, but slowing down today. I bought LadyC a pack of old Hitchcock movies and we are watching one now. So I got something right for a change! Picked up a new pistol last week, a Sig P365 Macro and it is a fine packing gun. 17+1 9x19 in a package about the size of a Colt 1903! Took a lot for me to give up my Commander.

FINALLY!! Some movement out of Georgia Drivers’ Services!! I called early this morning and got lucky! I was connected to a guy who took it seriously and he walked me through what he was able to find and put me in contact with the proper authorities. A second phone call got me a number for the local yokel county clerk in , of all places, probate court!!

Armed with the original citation number and the date of the citation, she was able to pull up the case. It was an old speeding ticket from May of 1979 that had been settled and paid!! She is passing the information to the probate judge for his signature and will fax the clearing information to the State to have the flag removed!  Then I will have to pay $25.00 to the state to have my license reinstated!?!? Anyway, it’s progress…

Visited my audiologist today for a checkup and to have my hearing aids serviced and cleaned, (yeah, I drove) and then came home and spent the last couple of hours squaring up the door to the gun room. The bottom of the door frame had shifted on the hinge side and the door had sagged from its own weight.  It took me three times as long to get it done as it should have!! I ain’t felt this decrepit ever!! I got it done and now I’m kicked back with the foot propped up because I spent too long on my feet and the post-op swelling decided to rear its head!

Some good. Some bad! Just another screwed up day in paradise!!

INSERT GRUMPS AND GRUMBLES IN THE APPROPRIATE PLACES!! 🙄 😡 😜

I got out for a while today, since the cold snap is over. Now it's swung the other way and things are melting!

Hit Costco and stocked up on some favourite items we were out of or running low on.

Waiting of the results of my last blood test to see how the kidneys are doing. Looking at labels to see Potassium levels etc.

Kinda bummed since a lot of my favourite veggies are on the NO-NO list.

Oh well. Still upright and above ground!

We're in a warm spell.  It gets cold at night (currently 6 F), and mid 30's tomorrow.  There's a temp inversion.  It hit 50 F at the base of the ski hill today.  Doesn't look like it's gonna break for another week.  What an unusual winter.  Yes, I'm GRUMPY about it!!

Just turned off colder here last night. 20f this morning at daylight.  We’re taking the day off today!  If I do anything more than fix breakfast and do a load of laundry, it’ll be because some emergency popped up!

The last couple of days, I’ve been on my feet a lot and really active and I’m having a little post-op swelling in the bad foot. Nothing serious or unexpected, but I figure I will give it a rest today so’s I can be ready for the grandson to visit this weekend.

Monday is his 18th birthday, he’s off from school, and if it works out so we can, I want to take him and Hatfield shooting and out to lunch!!

I intend to tell him what I told his dad and his big brother when they had their eighteenth birthday. I told ‘em that now they’re adults and when I knock them on their asses  that it’s only simple assault instead of child abuse! It’s only a misdemeanor and I’ll be more than happy to pay the fine! 🤣🤪🤣

I’ll save my GRUMP for later…

BUT YOU GIT YER BUTTS OFF’N THE CRUSTY BROWN LAWN!!

Well, I am paying for the January Thaw we just had.

- 15 and a blizzard right now, with an expected accumulation of 30+ Cm. (12+ inches) and drifting.

GRUMP

Got the match schedule for our 4 area posses and did an estimated round count, so, since it's not pleasant outside, I'll start making the season's ammo supply for CAS and Wild Bunch.

First match of 2026 will be Winter Camp in February, c/w tea, coffee and a hot stew or chili.

Clearing snow off the range and parking lot will likely take a few days. Hopefully without breaking the snowblower this time.

Ended up with 40+ cm of snow, but the s'blower handled it well, except for the wind, even though the snow had stopped around 4:00 Cleaned the half width of the double drive for Big Red's van before my knees started protesting.

Neighbour Phat told me I looked like a snowman and helped me brush off.

Big Red did the rest after supper and we'll clear off the deck and around the generator later.

We'll have to keep an eye on the air inlets and the exhaust outlets on the side of the house, where we can get drifting snow.

Oh the joy of a Canadian winter.
