In that case, that particular trio, the phrase from my youth and then State of residence that comes to mind is "Whipped up with an ugly stick".

That thing fell out of the Ugly Tree and hit every limb on the way down!  Then it got run over by the halftrack that they use to haul the Ugly Stick!!

You stole my reply! Buddy of mine would call it FUGLY. You can probably figure that one out. That would make a freight train take a dirt road.

Has any Ruskie technology been pretty?

The Mosin-Nagant, Nagant revolver, Tokarev pistol, AK, SKS, and all of their autos are clunky, hard-lined and rough, but they work in horrible conditions and seem easy enough to manufacture.

I kind of like the looks of the SKS.

The Tupolev Tu-95, NATO code "Bear" is pretty sexy.  So is the  Tu-160 "White Swan," NATO code "Blackjack."  Also the Tu-16, NATO code, "Badger."
