Will Kane Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Our oldest daughter works for Plano ISD (north of Dallas) our youngest daughter works for Conroe ISD (north of Houston). Conroe is shut down today and tomorrow due to the weather. It’s business as usual for Plano. Snow in Houston but not in Dallas sure seems weird. 2 Quote
Cypress Sun Posted January 21 Posted January 21 If I believe the local news reporters, the snow forecasts for northern Florida has resulted in a type of what I'm calling snow tourism. Being as many Floridians have never seen snow, some are packing up vehicles with friends, or family, or both, and are headed to north Florida to see it. I wish them luck! Freezing rain is forecast to the south of the snow. Should be interesting. Icey roads and Florida Crackers....I hope they get video! 2 2 Quote

Trailrider #896 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 You are all imaging this. Don't forget we have global warming! (Wind chill in Denver was about -20F this morning. Still have snow on the ground.) Riiiight! 2 Quote
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I feel sorry for you folks south of the Mason Dixon Line. We up here are prepared for the temperature extremes. Stay safe and since you aren't used to it: Stay off the icy roads!! Quote
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I looked it up, Waffle House cheats. They don’t have stores any farther north than Pennsylvania and Ohio. Quote
Sedalia Dave Posted January 21 Posted January 21 This storm is a little weird in that all the snow and ice is falling within about 50 miles of the coast line. Further north the humidity is so low that the snow sublimates before it reaches the ground. Early yesterday evening, weather radar showed that it was snowing heavily in NE Texas but none of it was reaching the ground. Every once in a while a single flake could be seen if you were really paying attention but they were few and far between. Quote
