Subdeacon Joe Posted January 12 Posted January 12 There were stories of the first sounds at the start of an auction were "thumb busters being cocked."
Sedalia Dave Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Saw this first hand in the 70's. Went to an auction with my dad. The place was packed with local farmers. I soon noticed that despite the auctioneers best efforts, everything sold for practically nothing. When I asked dad what was going on he told me to be quiet. Later on the way home he explained what was going on.
