so i moved another 4-5" off my walks and drives today ....my question to you southerners getting this almost never snow - why shovel? wont it melt in a day and you go back to living normal - why hurt yourselves for nothing ? i have the case of what i moved is here to stay and additional accumulations will add to the pile , if i thought it would melt in a day or so id not mess with it , we do that in the spring here as it happens often ,

Depending on your laws you MAY be liable if some slips and falls if you have not shoveled your sidewalk.  Up here in CT we are also responsible for making sure that the fire department has access to the fire hydrants, so those need to be  shoveled out.

And a corner lot really sucks, usually more sidewalk to remove snow from.

yes , i hear tat , glad i dont have a corner lot nor any city sidewalk [yet] we shall see after the street project that starts this spring , right now we have a double wide drive about 199 feet long and about 50 feet of walks and steps i can blow out the drive but have to shovel walks , oh and then there is the 12'x16' deck/bridge to the main entry door , takes me a couple hours with less than 6" , longer if more

this house was in the township when i bought it , the first street project was right after we bought [got annexed] the neighborhood rejected the wals and curbs as well as the widened road - we didnt want the traffic , this time we may get it anyway , just what i needed was a property tax increase , we have had one the last few years every year for schools , and there is another in the works for next year right now , they may tax me into moving ,
