Dirty Dan Dawkins Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Any load data for this with lead bullets? All I see in their online data is for jacketed bullets. I specifically shoot 357, 44 special and 44 magnum from what y’all might call a heavy cowboy load up to moderate loads with 200-265 grain lead bullets.
Wild Eagle Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Look at the very end of the Shooters World online reloading manual. They have competition loads for most calibers that are for lead bullets. ShootersWorldManualInterior_CHRIS_WITH-COVER__RUSS-REVISED.pdf
Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L Posted January 8 Posted January 8 @Scarlett should be able to help with this question
Scarlett Posted January 8 Posted January 8 @Dirty Dan Dawkins, the referenced load data was compiled using my cast lead bullets. Should you have further needs related to Clean Shot, please let me know. It’s not only a great powder for pistol/rifle for our game but also for shotshell. I’ve attached some data that was compiled by some of my customers before we had proper data. Hugs! Scarlett CLEAN SHOT DATA copy.docxClean Shot Load Data.xlsx
Krazy Kajun Posted January 8 Posted January 8 @Dirty Dan Dawkins What Scarlett said.... (I won't ever admit she's right 🤣)..... she sells Clean Shot powder and bullets and her data is accurate, it's a good place to start and do whatever load development you want. Clean Shot powder is really fine and meters like mercury. Lots of cowboy shooters use it for anything from .32 on up to .45 and also for shotgun loads, pretty versatile powder. Kajun

Sgt. Hochbauer, SASS #64409 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Clean Shot has become my new favorite smokeless powder for .38 and for 12ga shotgun. I am also going to use that for .45 acp and 9mm have not gotten to that as of yet. Hochbauer

Eyesa Horg Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Looking at the Data from Scarlett's site, looks like abt. 4.3 gr. would be a good starting point. 44-40 isn't listed, 4.3 is for 45colt. I'm currently loading 5.2 in the 45 colt and still getting the gold debris, but much less than at 4+ grains.
Imis Twohofon,SASS # 46646 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I load 4.4 in .44 mag cases with 200gr RNFP. I also use it in .38/.357, 9mm and 12ga. I likes it Imis
Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L Posted March 18 Posted March 18 When I was using it I ended up loading 5 grns in my 38-40 with 140s and 180s bullets and still got some gold bits.
Eyesa Horg Posted March 18 Posted March 18 It's amazing the mess that gold stuff makes in the action!! When I pulled the butt stock on my Marlin 45colt, the hammer spring looked like a solid brass rod !!! Each time I reload, I go up a couple tenths! Getting much better now at 5.4, the latest batch!

We call them yellow bits GRITS down south! It’s not harmful… just a product of lower velocities. Now when you see the yellow bits, you and @Eyesa Horg will think of me and GRITS! It’s also know to stand for Girls Raised In The South 😉😂🥰 Hugs! Scarlett
Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L Posted March 21 Posted March 21 @Scarlett I like grits as a breakfast food. 😁 Also use it as filler when loading APP in my 38-40s. 😎
