Pat Riot Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Hmmm…at first I thought that someone took an impromptu first snow event and formalized it to make a buck or gain favor somehow. But then I found this article. https://theblackandwhite.net/63284/feature/snow-day-sno-problem-qa-with-michael-lipin-manager-of-d-c-snowball-fight-association/ It looks like they raise money for charities too. https://secretdc.com/dc-snowball-fight-association/ When we were kids word went around there would be a huge snowball fight in the park near the college. A bunch of us kids went and found that a bunch of college kids put this event on and we literally stood in the snow and picked teams. Then we had one hour to built snow forts and amass ammo (snowballs) We had a blast. It was a lot of fun. This occurred after every big snow for a couple of years until the Dean of the college put a stop to it. There was a rumor that the Dean got pummeled by snowballs on the way to his car and he got mad so he banned snowball throwing on campus and in the parks. 1 Quote
watab kid Posted January 8 Posted January 8 when i was a kid no word went around - the first snow that cancelled school was game on , that was pretty much the only occassion for such an event , but ........yes it seems the annual event in DC is a charitable fund raiser , this year coincided with a couple events .... we had the speaker of the house elected and we got carters funeral , we really have a lot going on these days the news media should be having a ball , but are they reporting on this ? no - they were busy poking at trump , because he spoke and answered more reporters questions in a single event than biden did in four years , soon we have the inauguration , then there will be a flurry of changes in government , will be interesting to watch and see , Quote
