The big ddifference in Anacin is caffeine. If you swallow a couple of aspirin and then drink a cup of coffee you get the same effect.

 

But on the subject of mixing medicine, I discovered this one year when I was sick. I took Robitussin and Dristan at the same time. That combination of medicine will make you extremely stoned.

While you can still buy Anacin, the formulation used when that commercial was made is no longer available. One of the original ingredients in Anacin (Phenacetin) was banned by the FDA in 1983 because it was found to be a known carcinogen along with other lethal side effects including kidney failure. The Anacin sold today only contains aspirin and caffeine.

 

Good news is that phenacetin has been replaced by Acetaminophen. The closest OTC pain reliever to the original Anacin is Excedrin as it contains aspirin, acetaminophen, and caffeine. It is my go to pain reliever.
