I've no idea what the weather is supposed to be like there next week. Even if I can get there, I may not be able to get back. This trip may be a no-go. Angus Depending on where you lived, NE Texas got between 1 and 6 inches. By noon today it has already melted off even the side roads. Day time temps in the high 40s to low 50's forecast for the rest of the week. You'll be fine. 2 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 It’s likely to be here for several days! Between five and six inches on the ground and temperatures in the teens at night. Only mid thirties in daytime the next few days and then only for a couple of hours. Still not a real problem! 2 Quote

Storm warning until 4 AM, extreme cold warning (15 degrees, wind chill to -20) until 2 PM tomorrow. Basically will not be above freezing until Thursday. Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Mention of butter pecan and vanilla with chocolate syrup and suchlike ... now I want me some ice cream ... ... years ago (and I mean YEARS ago!) I read that Alaskans ate more ice cream per capita than anyone else. No idea if that's still true or not, but with this chilly season, I find myself very inclined to ice cream! 2 Quote
Warden Callaway Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 Had -4 a bit ago. Still have water and electricity so ok. Sun should come up and make solar passive house comfortable. Quote

Down here in central Maryland, we got about 2" of snow, but it was heavy and wet. I spent about 4 hours shoveling and clearing cars last night as the temps were plummeting, knowing it would be solid ice this morning. Glad I did because I suspect some of my neighbors may not get their cars moving again for the rest of the week. County dumped about two oceans worth of rock salt on the roadways and the traffic cams are showing that all of the major roads are clear and our street is quite passable. Still had a few inches of snow on the ground from the last two storms, which is kind of unusual for us. Typically, we get 4-6" of snow, then it warms up and is all gone in a few days. Occasionally, we will get a 30"+ Snowmagedgon, but those only hit every 5 years or so. Going to be a cold week ahead for most of the country. We may finally break freezing on Friday.
