You can make toilet paper with the same ingredients as French toast. I never knew that. Still learning......even at this age.

I would skip the syrup...

Expect very little accumulation here (east Tennessee), there is still a problem...

Rain will come sunday morning and then the cold temperatures set in. Because of the rain, TDOT will not be treating the roads! The brines would just get washed off.

So Monday morning will be icy, areas in shade will stay icy.

I'm getting groceries in the morning and figure on staying home until Tuesday. Will probably make some cornbread to go with the massive pot of chili I cooked yesterday, freeze some chili portions for the future, eat other stuff, and call Dillon to spec a reloading press.

But back to the weather, a slight skim coat of ice can be worse than a foot of snow. 4WD may get you moving the brakes will do nothing to help stop. Timing of precipitation and temperature require consideration.

My son lives in Nashville he’s hoping it misses him ! Icy roads are nasty. Power outages are also possible! Stay safe.👌

Ice is accumulating here in KC area. Roads are treacherous already, but no snow yet. That’s supposed to start in the morning. We don’t have anywhere to go and are in good shape. Hope the power grid holds up. We have a generator, but it’s super heavy and hard to move from the shed.

Sounds like I’m complaining but I’m not. We’ve been down this road before, so it’s mostly an inconvenience.

Not horrible yet but got 24 hours to go.  Maybe an inch or more of something on the ground judging from leaves sticking through. Light snow falling.  Been watching a coyote get its breakfast.

Here is the MODOT traveler map. 2/3 of the roads are snow covered.  If you look low on the menu,  you can turn on traffic cameras and see most roads are covered with a few trucks moving.

True, that.

When we lived in Colorado Springs, every vehicle that was upside down on the side of the road was a 4WD cowboy Cadillac.

Yeah, it is a freezing 70 here in the Austin area. Stay warm and stay safe friends. Wife and daughter just left to drive back to St. Pete where the daughter lives. Wife is just along for the ride and will fly back on Wednesday.

Weather guessers got it right this time. They said 8-13” for our area and we have 10+ as the storm winds down. Haven’t had a snow dump like this in 10 years or so. Grid has held up for us, but not everyone in the metro area is as fortunate.

Gonna get a good workout with the snow thrower and shovel Monday!

Getting some snow right now, we’ve had about 3-4” looks like maybe another inch coming but the big storm is south of us and they’re saying no more snow the rest of the week here in NE Ohio. Cold though, 21 right now going to 26!

UPDATE: a little snow Wednesday and maybe Sat but warming to 30 on Sunday! Yippee!

Well the fat lady sang. The snow's over at our place. I'm guessing when got 4" of a mix of snow,  sleet and freezing rain.  I seen a list of places that got a foot, plus or minus.  By looking at traffic cams, a majority of Missouri roads are snow covered.

Maybe an inch or two in Polk County, about 25 miles north of Springfield. Mostly freezing rain. Currently 13 with light winds. Did make the roof over the chicken run look kinda cool.

Sounds kinky

Got 4-5" overnight, and now it's sleet for off and on for the rest of today. The Mrs and I just finished shoveling (heavy /wet) driveway and walkway. Fireplace is going since 6:15, pot of coffee is full. I'm making toilet paper French toast right now.

Afraid to ask what you do with it….

It's very dry.....takes a lot of butter and syrup to be palatable.

I'm not far south of Rye so same weather as he's already reported.

Consulted correspondents in Oklahoma.

They reported not much snow, they  had quite a bit of wind.

Conversation turned to plow trucks and he said they have four plow trucks for the entire STATE.

I think we have more than that here in the county but could be mistaken.

Kinfolk down close to the Ohio River are reporting ten inches on the ground and now icing conditions.

I'm ready to nominate hibernation as my next participation sport!

According to available information, Manchester, New Hampshire operates around 50 snow plows for winter weather operations, including both city-owned plows and contracted private plows.

Clearing snow for the city, county, state is how many contractors  pay for their annual maintenance.

I think that if I lived back in that area I would invest in a generator. Probably wouldn't get used much, but when needed would be priceless.

BS

Add to that a free-standing, wood burning stove. It might be localized heat, but something is better than nothing.

Just cold here, 26F, but our old homestead in Southern Illinois has been without power for 16 hours due to ice.

It missed us up here on Ottawa, Ontario.

A little on the cool side though at 12 F.

Still seeing the odd hardy soul wearing shorts. (No kidding!)

Women's Hockey teams are out practicing.

Most schools called off school today. We live about 50 miles south of Rye. We didn't have that much snow but wind drifted it over the back roads so no school. Went this morning to sheriff's office to renew our Ohio CHL. Watching two grandkids and staying warm. Probably should go downstairs and get to loading ammo.

Weird storm, Connecticut got nothing.  Salem, VA got about an inch of snow/ice/sleet.  Harrisonburg, VA & Winchester, VA got 5-12 inches and from Salem, VA that's about 1 hour north for Harrisonburg & 2 hours north for Winchester.   Stores and roads in Salem were pretty empty.

Snow in East Tennessee (SE of Knoxville) is sticking. Snow will probably end after less than a 1/2 hour. My place is at the very southern edge of the storm path.

Figure on staying home or very near home for the next week. If other drivers would drive for the conditions (too many do not), I would venture further and with less worry.

Cabin fever is the greatest risk I am expecting to take for now.
