Blackwater 53393 Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 This is banjo!! I’m not a big fan of banjo, but this guy pretty much ruins it for everyone else!!!
Subdeacon Joe Posted December 31, 2024 Author Posted December 31, 2024 Steve Martin is no slouch on the banjo.

Subdeacon Joe Posted December 31, 2024 Author Posted December 31, 2024 I'm trying to think of instruments that I don't like. I can't really think of any. I might not care for some styles of music on some instruments - a lot of classical piano comes to mind, same for classical violin, because it is too random for my taste, sounds like a cat wandering on the keys for half an hour. Don't care much for bagpipe ceòl mór aka piobaireachd.
Rip Snorter Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Was privileged to hear a wonderful bagpipe solo performance on a mountainside in Wyoming at dusk - unforgettable, and quite remarkable.
watab kid Posted January 2 Posted January 2 my father played plectrum banjo in his dixie band , my brother and his wife both play along with a couple other folks that make up their all banjo band , they play a good number of venues every year , i rather like the sound , i also like the pipes , im a scotsman , maybe thats why , but i find it to be a very rewarding listen - dont hurt when its attractive young ladies playing it either , had to come back and relate that my father decided to play banjo later in life , which means that when i was in high school he was teaching himself , my bedroom was in the basement in those days , his practice area was outside my door , there are a couple tunes that i dont hear without remembering those painful days , he was very good later in life when i had left home , he had organized a band that played a lot of places including the bix biederbeck festival in davenport iowa as well as san fransico and st louis festivals , he even organized a local to the hometown festival that drew big name bands every summer , but ill always remember that plinking sound outside my bedroom door every night of my high school years
bgavin Posted January 2 Posted January 2 They say a Gentleman is a guy who knows how to play a banjo.... and doesn't Others speak of Perfect Pitch... where they can get the banjo into the dumpster without hitting any of the sides. (I'm a life long banjo player). And I have a great love of the instrument.
