Buckshot Bear Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I have a lot of steam engines in my collection, but this is the first steam engine driven helicopter I have! Thought some pards might find this model interesting - 6 10 Quote

watab kid Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 pretty nifty , practicality tells me a real life version would never get off the ground or at least not stay in the air long but thats really neet 1 Quote
Pat Riot Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 That’s a cool little chopper. Could it fly? 1 1 Quote
Eyesa Horg Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Thanks Bear, that's pretty neat! 1 Quote
Buckshot Bear Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 Thanks pards, I really like this and been having some fun with it. It's a non flyer, it would take some skilled model engineer with some talent to be able to keep the boiler boiling and creating steam during flight. Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, wishing all my pards a Safe, Prosperous, Healthy and Happy New Year. Hard to believe its 25 years since 2000 isn't it! .................Remember Y2K! 2 4 2 Quote

So many millions of dollars wasted on fretting idiots and savvy computer geeks. 2 1 Quote

The guy who developed our Vehicke Maintenance System for Light Rail and Bus side made a half a million dollars by adding 2 digit spaces into all the date codes on a system he devolved in the late 70’s. We phased the thing out a couple of years later. Sheesh! 2 Quote

Most are going onto 75+ years, many 100+ years and lots newly constructed. They were common boys toys back before the turn of the Century and right up to the 1950's before they fell out of favour because probably "Golly boys can't have anything that has a flame!!! They'll burn the house down". Most have come from the U.K and the U.S as 'barn finds' or 'attic finds' and they are always missing parts etc and I make all the missing parts and get them running again. We did have two Aussie manufacturers here Scorpion & Renown and I have an example of all they made except for one that has eluded me, being canny Aussies they used old WWI & WWII brass artillery shells for the boilers. Cabin Fever Expo is on our bucket list to visit one day in Pennsylvania and then do some traveling around the U.S cowboy shooting and meeting up with pards.....unfortunately, it didn't work out for the beginning of 2025.....maybe next year (fingers crossed). https://www.cabinfeverexpo.com/ 1 1 Quote

I bet that's taken Ellie a long time to accumulate and I bet you stop at all little way out of places searching for an elusive addition to the collection. Wonderful! 1 Quote

When we used to do motorcycle touring we bought lots of em everywhere we went. She has her Grandmother's collection and has bought out a couple. We only add a few a year these days. It's incredible!! Most are now in boxes, but a few hundred around the house! She's been collecting them since childhood. Edited January 1 by Eyesa Horg Added text 2 Quote
