Rip Snorter Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Purportedly J. Edgar Hoover did not permit drivers of his vehicle to turn left, so 3 rights - there is a collectable book No Left Turn by Joseph L. Schott, a former agent of the time who told about the FBI in peace and war. Have not managed a copy as yet. Quote
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 A Chinese couple, Mr. and Mrs. Wong, had a baby. Everything went fine until they were about to leave, and when the nurse went to retrieve their child from the nursery, she brought out a white baby! "This isn't our baby!" Said Mr. Wong. "No, I'm sure it is," the nurse replied. "But the baby is white, and we're Asian!" said the aggravated Mr. Wong. "It is your baby though," the nurse persisted, and finally, an exasperated Mr. Wong said, “Two Wongs don’t make a white.” Quote
Alpo Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 I remember a story I read many years back. Probably Junior high School. Maybe even elementary School. There was a series of young teenage books called the Timber Trail Riders. Probably published by Whitman. They were all horse stories taking place in the American West. One of them was taking place at a dude ranch. One of the horses - Lefty - would not turn right. Whenever he needed to make a right turn he would turn 270° to the left. A theory was something scared him on his right side when he was a foal. Regardless, nobody wanted to ride Lefty because of that little idiosyncrasy. So there's this kid out there one year and he gets assigned Lefty. And they bond. And near the end of the story the kid has left Lefty ground hitched and gone over to look at something. On a mountain trail. And he fell off the edge. So there he is, maybe two feet below the trail, holding on to some scrub and screaming for dear life. And there is no one there to hear him. Except Lefty. But Lefty can't turn around and go save him, because the mountain is in the way. So finally Lefty makes a right turn and goes running back and hangs his head over the edge of the trail, and the kid catches the reins and Lefty pulls him back up on the trail. Yay. And after that he would make right turns. 3 Quote
