American Eagle now official

I always thought that the Bald Eagle was the National Bird. 

 

About time that it became official. The only worthwhile thing he's done in 4 years.

this was a surprise to me , i grew up believing it was official , there was this rub about the wild turkey decades ago but i thought that "offical" status was the source of the rub ,

yup , he pushed for it and in some ways i think he was right but for as long as ive been alive its been the eagle

This false story began due to a letter Franklin wrote to his daughter criticizing the original eagle design for the Great Seal, saying that it looked more like a turkey. So, although Benjamin Franklin defended the honor of the turkey against the bald eagle, he did not propose it become one of America’s most important symbols.

Yea normally I don’t use them but they were right on this as was many other sites that said the same thing.
