Dapper Dave Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 What do you think of it? Any users here? Quote
Wild Eagle Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Just a variation of the Uberti Cattleman. I shot the Cattleman for about a year before I could find some Vaqueros. You'll see them at most every match you go to. Nice guns and pretty slick right out of the box. Parts are readily available too if you need them. If you prefer the Colt clones over the Vaquero I think they are a good choice. Prettier than the Vaquero too. 2 Quote
John Barleycorn, SASS #76982 Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 If it’s got the retractable firing pin it’s a no. The Pietta clones are a better choice if you want a SAA clone. 1 Quote
Old Man Graybeard Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 I USED to have a couple of Uberti revolvers...I don't anymore. If you can find some good used older ones with the 4 click action...not bad. The new ones with the 3 click action and safety firing pin...run. Pietta's would be a better choice now...but it's just awful hard to beat Rugers Quote
Dapper Dave Posted December 28, 2024 Author Posted December 28, 2024 Oddly enough...the Pietta seem t have a hair less room between the back of the trigger guard and the front of the grip, same with the Taurus Deputy, and my fat finger feels pinched. The Uberti's don't do that. I have the floating firing pin on my Birds Head, hasn't given me any issues yet, what have you seen/heard? I found a Blackhawk .357 local for $450, then I got a look at the side they were hiding, deep pitting of rust, like it had been left in a half inch of water for a year. Hard pass. I also have some Uberti black powder revolvers that are quite good - that's why I decided to try the cartridge guns out. Quote
Abilene, SASS # 27489 Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 The retractable firing pin is for the most part trouble-free, mostly only a problem for people who don't follow through on the trigger, but there have also been the occasional burrs or issues with it from the factory. If the one you have shoots okay then your technique should be fine for the other. Some people, like me, also just don't like that the 3-clicks just because it is not original. I have a 4-click hammer and trigger in my parts bin just in case I run across a 3-clicker I want. 1 Quote
