My knees are getting to where they hurt if I wear my boots for very long. My PT shoes not so much, I think because they don't have much of a heel on them. Before I have the heels cut off my boots, I was thinking about some moccasins, but about the only things I can find are not much more than slippers, the knee high lace up types, or womens.

Anybody got any ideas where a man might find something in between?

Find some you can slip some orthotic insoles into.

Twisted X makes a “moccasin” that is (or used to be) really popular. Fairly comfortable. I still have the first pair I bought almost a decade ago. Don’t wear them as often as I used to. All kinds of different designs. Pricey, but what isn’t.

I believe the maker you want is called Sod Hoppers

@Blackwater 53393 may remember if this is the correct maker.

My wife had a pair that were custom made from Buffalo Hide with a shredded rubber sole. Exceptionally comfortable and will last a lifetime.

That’s the one!!  Fabulous work and materials.  If I ever get healed up I’m gonna try to wear ‘em out!!

Ariat makes shoes like these.  They have very good arch support and are very cushioned which should help your knees.
