Bailey Creek,5759 Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Has anyone used titegroup for shotgun loads. My brother is starting in SASS. I shoot Black Powder. It's going to be a learning curve for me too.
Eyesa Horg Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Here's a recent thread that may help. https://forums.sassnet.com/index.php?/topic/374680-shotgun-setuprecipe-for-titegroup-on-mec9000/#comment-4691385

Capt Stephen D Hill, SASS #56151 Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Titewad is the shotgun powder, Titegroup is the powder normally used for rifle/pistol. IMHO

IMHO Recently, Hodgdon also labelled TiteGroup as High Gun (which is recommended for shotgun).
Tall John Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 I use Titewad too but Hogdon markets High Gun for shotgun which is exactly the same powder as Tite Group. So if you want to use Titegroup for shotgun, look for load data listing High Gun.
Eyesa Horg Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Hodgdon techs will also work with you to develop a light load.
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708 Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Titegroup is fine as a shotgun powder....several folks here used it for light 12 gauge loads years before Hodgdon finally qualified it as a shotgun powder and ALSO labeled some of it as High Gun, likely because they were concerned all the nay saying they had done over the years would hurt trying to sell TG as a shotgun powder now... good luck, GJ
Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 I shoot Titegroup in my .38 for Bulls Eye target shooting. It is great, but a little dirty in my .38. I use a medium load of 3.5 gr. I'd be interested to see what the shotgunners say about this.
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Nah. None of The Above. 40Gr 3F APP. Take it from there. Although I load All Brass hulls. More Funner you betcha 🤠
SGT. ELI 35882 GUNFIGHTER Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 1 oz. of 7.5, Claybuster grey wads, and 13 grs. of Titegroup is what I use now.
