Titewad is the shotgun powder, Titegroup is the powder normally used for rifle/pistol. IMHO

Recently, Hodgdon also labelled TiteGroup as High Gun (which is recommended for shotgun).

I use Titewad too but Hogdon markets High Gun for shotgun which is exactly the same powder as Tite Group.  So if you want to use Titegroup for shotgun, look for load data listing High Gun.

Hodgdon techs will also work with you to develop a light load.

Titegroup is fine as a shotgun powder....several folks here used it for light 12 gauge loads years before Hodgdon finally qualified it as a shotgun powder and ALSO labeled some of it as High Gun, likely because they were concerned all the nay saying they had done over the years would hurt trying to sell TG as a shotgun powder now...

good luck, GJ

I shoot Titegroup in my .38 for Bulls Eye target shooting. It is great, but a little dirty in my .38. I use a medium load of 3.5 gr. I'd be interested to see what the shotgunners say about this.
