Shanghai Slim Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Hello fellow Cowboys and Cowgirls, I'm looking to upgrade my CZ Sharptail coach gun and specifically want to polish the feeding ramp for smoother operation. I’ve noticed that it sometimes struggles a bit with loading, and I’ve heard polishing the ramp can make a big difference. I’d appreciate any advice or guidance from those of you who’ve done similar work on your coach guns. Here are a few questions I have: 1. What tools and materials do you recommend for polishing the feeding ramp? 2. Are there any particular techniques or steps I should follow to avoid damaging the gun? 3. Any pitfalls I should watch out for? I’d love to hear about your experiences or see photos if you’ve done this mod yourself! Thanks in advance for any help or tips you can share. Happy trails, Shanghai Slim Quote
Abilene, SASS # 27489 Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 There is no feed ramp. Are you talking about beveling the edges of the chambers? 2 Quote
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 PLUS ONE for Abilene. Lotta folks out there ruin perfectly good shotguns by "beveling" the chamber mouth. Anything beyond breaking the edges of the chamber is a quick way to ruin your gun. 2 Quote
Nostrum Damus SASS #110702 Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 As said above, a SxS has no feed ramp. Here is a photo of my mods in the area you are talking about. The hard edge of the chamber mouths have been lightly beveled, and the upper "ears" of the extractor have been removed. 1 Quote
Marauder SASS #13056 Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 As noted, you don't need to do a lot. The above photo is at the edge. Any more and the shells will be too deep. For a collection of good stuff: https://marauder.homestead.com/files/Double1.html And next two pages. 2 Quote
Randy Saint Eagle, SASS # 64903 Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 With time, patience, a Dremel tool, a small sanding drum and a Cratex wheel you can make it easier to load. I removed the extractor before I started and stayed away from the shelf that shell rim sits on. Randy Quote
Texas Maverick Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Contact Ken Griner from Griner Gun Works. He does a great job slick up the CZ Sharptail for SASS. I have 2 of his shotguns and they are both great. TM Quote
