Today I went to a local store that has alot of reloading materials ( I have not been there in years ) I was astonished at the prices of reloading supplies, IMR powder was 72$ per pound and 8 pound jugs were closer to 500$ primers per K were 81$ , I noticed that pyrodex was a low price of 29$ But #10s and #11s were 15 $ per 100 , After seeing this I am glad I don’t get out that much , I would have to take out a loan for these prices,

Has others noticed extremely higher prices or am I overreacting ?

It’s still cheaper than factory ammo.

Wow, that must be some big rock you've been hiding under! It's been that way for 5 years now, ever since the plague supposedly started.

Primers are in abundance now, but the prices haven't come down much, if any.

Powder is still hit and miss with prices rising every day seems like. Almost all Alliant powders (Bullseye, Unique, Red Dot, etc., etc.) are unavailable and will be for the immediate future.

Strickly my opinion....prices are NOT going to come back down anytime soon, if ever.

My suggestion is to buy what you need, especially Alliant powders, when or if you find it.

What I would like to know is when did primer prices change?

The last time I bought primers - and this tells you how long ago it was - it was $99 for 5,000. It did not matter if it was pistol primers or rifle primers, if it was large primers or small primers. It was $99 for 5,000.

I accept the fact that they're higher now. But right now Capital cartridge is having a sale. With free hazmat.

Small pistol is the cheapest $250.

Then small rifle $290.

Then large rifle $374.

And then large pistol is ungodly expensive, $428.

These are the sale prices, box of 5,000. Ginex.

Why are they different prices? They never used to be.

Much of that has to do with availability!!

I honestly think primer prices are still high due to gouging. Powder prices are high due to the nitrocellulose shortage.

Any number of reasons for the high prices:  the market is willing to pay the higher prices, transportation costs are up, employee costs (wages & benefits) are up, raw material costs are up and the number conflicts world wide are affecting raw materials and production and what makes it to the civilian market.

With the election over and the possibility of a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia more likely due to the new president, we might see a slight reduction in prices, but we'll never get back to pre-Covid prices.

I've been relading for 50 yrs. Prices have constantly gone up. Get used to it as they won't be coming down. When I started cowboy, I was paying $19/1000  for primers. Before covid I was paying $130/case for Federal LPP. The last ones I bought were $330/case. Prices are coming down a little around here. Here are the primers prices at a local powder distributor. Shop around and buy when you can.
