He was the bad guy in the Bruce Willis movie Die Hard.

At the end of the movie he falls off the top of the tower. Splat.

I read somewhere that they deliberately dropped him a couple of seconds early to surprise him. That look is genuine.

Yep, Mr Rickman was non too pleased about it either.

Alan Rickman had to be talked into playing the role after it was turned down by Sam Neil. An accomplished Theater actor, it was his first Hollywood Movie and made him an instant success.

Bruce Willis was not the first choice for John McClain, Several other major actors turned it down before it was finally offered to Willis. It was also his first feature movie and like Alan Rickman it launched their movie careers.

That just seems like a dangerous way to do things.

Instead of dropping me on the count of three, and relying on my acting ability to portray shock and fear, they drop me on the count of one. Okay. Print? It's in the can? Good. Then I go over and I beat the living hell out of the director.

I've heard about child actors back in the 30s. When they would need them to cry on camera, but they weren't sure that they could do it. So they would tell the kid that his dog got run over, and while he's crying his little heart out from his pet being killed they roll the camera. And if I was the little kid's father, when I found out about that I would go beat the living hell out of the director.

It just seems like a dangerous way to get the shot you need. Lot of hospital time.
