Gun captain at the open breech of one of Wisconsin's (BB-64) 16-Inch guns off Okinawa, May, 1945. His right elbow rests on the "mushroom" of the gun, which he keeps clean by rubbing it with the towel wrapped around his arm.

When I lived in southern California and was out in my boat of Long Beach, Used to see the New Jersey a lot. It is pretty awesome when you are in a 28' boat and it is passing in front of you!

If you ever get a chance to tour the USS Iowa BB-61 in Long Beach, CA I am sure you would be awestruck.

I toured it in 2019. We couldn’t go below the main deck because they were working on her, but it was still quite an experience.
