Shot 50 round sporting clays course.  Overall love the gun, a bit stiff still but use will probably smooth out or send it home with Lassiter at end of EOT.  Will not have him do the drop 2 mod just in case the WB bug bites me.  Feeds, extracts and ejects Federal shells just fine.  Does not like translucent Fiocci at all.  Some stick hard in the chamber.  This was so problematic that instead of report pairs, clays were thrown on known ejection.  I had to demount the gun and work hard with both hands to get lever to open with about 1/2 of the Fiocci translucent shells.  Federals fed shot extracted and ejected just fine but one has to work the lever with some authority.  This is no different than my IAC Lassiterized gun.  Yes I just made up a word.  It is possible to get doubles with a lever, did it several times when shooting federals or the fiocci last.  Am toying with the idea of having screw in flush inter-changeable chokes fitted.

I had one of those clear hull shells leave the plastic hull in the chamber and pulled the brass of the bottom. I won't run them any more. I try to stick to AA hulls.

The ones I have cut and roll crimped work just fine out of my IAC Lassiterized 87.  Have had no extraction problems with that gun but the chamber on that one has been polished as part of the Lassiter magic. The cimarron is stock as a rock only cleaned and lubed prior to going to the range.  I now shoot virtually 100 percent roll crimped 2 3/4 or real close to that shells from the IAC and plan to do so with the Cimarron Gun.  Today I deliberately tested factory star crimped.  Federals good to go.  Fiocchi absolutely not acceptable for this gun.  They work great out of my double barrels either SxS or O/U when shooting sporting clays.

Do you find the roll crimp works better in the 87?

I do the star crimp on my reloads, they seem to run well in my iac, my daughters pw87, but my wife's cimarron 87 every once in a while they give a little hiccup. Never really considered the roll crimp.

Yes being 3/8 inch or so shorter than a fired star crimped hull they eject much easier with much more clearance between the hull and end of barrel during ejection.

I cut about an inch of wood off mine, but added back about 1/2" with a pad.  I am pretty happy with the length, but the rubber pad is a little 'grabby' sometimes.

I actually prefer the grab of the rubber mostly because I run mine as hard as I can for ejection.

I dislike it "grabing" my shirt as I bring it up to my shoulder.  If I think about it, I just bring it up a little further away from the clothing, then plant it into the shoulder.
